Even after living on post I still love the sound of the big helos and the fighters taking off. I guess after a while it just got comforting. Of course there is nothing like calling in an A-10 Strike 1/2 mile from your position and watching that bitch come down and dig a ditch for you with Uranium.

Saw the Thunderbirds yesterday for USAFA graduation. I think the coolest I have seen happen over my house was last year when 2 COANG F-16s flew right over my house at dusk and lit the afterburners. In the low light you could see it light and watch the flames extend as they accelerated. They had to have been under 1000ft and I live on a mesa so they were even closer.

Sometimes i see a Tornado, lynx or chinook fly over Woking.
But way more often i have a police heli over my house, about once a year or more. Last weekend i had one loiter over my house and the small area around for about 30mins, once i even had, at night, the helis spot light hit our garden and house. Still cant work out for the love of god what or who they are actualy searching for, i mean, i dont know any dealers who live locally............

1 Grab a SAW
2 Find the highest hill/building around a flag
3 Move there, stay there, Spot, call out, attack marker... SAW!
4 For god sake go from high ground to high ground! NOT bottom of a valley to open field to gully!

The coolest thing I ever had fly over my house were two F14's playing around with each other. I remeber hearing the engine sound from inside the house and I went flying out the door. As soon as I heard their engines I knew it wasn't a jumbo jet

They flew around over my house for a good two or three minutes and then they were gone The greatest part for me is that living in Canada that was one of the very few times I would ever get to see an F14 in flight, let alone playing around like they were.

I have seen an CF-18 fly around a few times at the local air show. I love the low level fly by ---> Swishhhh --> wait for it ----> ROARRRRR!!!!

I used to work up north in the woods allot. The air force would do low level flying through the hilly terrain in Hercules transport planes (I think ) You would be up on some big hill working away and all of a sudden this big a$$ plane would rumble over you not far off the deck, scared the crap out of me some times.

They once set off a huge explosive at the local base and it shook houses for miles around. The kind of explosion you feel in your chest and feet

Cheers,

Close your eyes and imagine some really cool military picture, or better yet a really funny picture in this space. I said close your eyes damnit!

i remember going to a british army fire power deomonstration in salisbury plain, and damn those challengers send a huge shockwave.

so much so that it shook our car with was 1/4 mile away.

also ive seen a tornado's engine go bang and set on fire at yeovilton air show, BOOM.

nothing serious however, just RAF blokes being a bit silly.
