Yeah, I figured that out after I posted. Cheers.

Don't you have to be 18 in the U.S? I think you do in the UK too, but if you can have sex at 16, I see no problem.

The US has varied standards based on age.
Drinking = 21
voting = 18
fornication = 16 ( unless it's with a soldier then it's 18....or was in the late 80's in NY )

Meh, most of the girls that appear on girls gone wild love the attention. Nobody forces them to do anything, they're pretty happy to take of their shirts themselves.

Thanks luizinhuu for the find

Smoking: 16
Lottery: 16
Drinking: 18

Anyway, that guy does sound pretty sleazy.

Oh, and here's the story:

Quote:
LOS ANGELES — "Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis is due in court to face accusations that he fondled an 18-year-old woman at a birthday party in Hollywood while she told him to leave her alone.

Francis faces a misdemeanor sexual battery charge when he is arraigned Tuesday in Los Angeles. He could be sentenced to six months in jail and a $2,000 fine if he's convicted.

The charge is the latest in a series of legal troubles for Francis.

He was sentenced to 35 days in jail last month in Florida for contempt of court in a civil case and was indicted last month in Nevada for tax evasion.

A U.S. District judge in Los Angeles fined him $200,000 in January for violating record-keeping requirements designed to prevent exploitation of minors.

He was also ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.

And another story

Quote:
PENASCOLA, FLA—“Girls Gone Wild” producer Joe Francis was released from a Panama City jail late Monday after completing a sentence for contempt of court but Florida officials weren’t successful in keeping him in Florida to face unresolved 2003 criminal charges involving filming minors in sexual situations on a Panama City beach.

Federal marshals took Francis, 34, into custody and transferred him to a jail in Jackson County near the Georgia-Alabama border in preparation for his transport to Reno, Nev., to face federal tax evasion charges. It’s expected he will be moved to Reno before the end of the month.

Last month, a federal grand jury in Reno returned an indictment charging Francis with tax evasion. The indictment alleges that Francis, whose companies Mantra Films Inc. and Sands Media Inc. produce and sell the Girls Gone Wild videotapes and DVDs, deducted more than $20 million in false business expenses on the companies’ 2002 and 2003 corporate income tax returns. According to the indictment, Francis used offshore bank accounts and entities purportedly owned by others to conceal income he earned during 2002 and 2003.

The indictment also alleges that Francis transferred more than $15 million from an offshore bank account to a brokerage account in Irvine, Calif., held in the name of Rothwell Limited, a Cayman Islands corporation, that Francis controlled.

Francis completed a 35-day sentence after U.S. District Judge Richard Smoak found him in contempt.

Federal Magistrate Judge Larry Bodiford has ordered that upon his release from jail Tuesday that Francis, the multimillionaire founder of the video film empire, be sent to Nevada. The Bay County state attorney’s office appealed Bodiford’s ruling in an attempt to keep Francis in Florida to face the pending state charges but Smoak denied the appeal Tuesday afternoon. The judge ruled that the state charges against Francis had been pending for more than four years and that the state’s arguments weren’t persuasive that Francis should be first tried in Florida.

According to an attorney representing Francis in the 2003 charges, all but six of the 42 charges lodged against him have been dismissed due to improper evidence.

Francis reportedly earns $29 million a year. Girls Gone Wild has admitted to hiring performers, and producing and distributing sexually explicit video materials during 2002 and part of 2003 while systematically violating the record keeping and labeling laws. The companies also admitted that in at least two instances in 2002 in Panama City they filmed minors in sexually explicit scenes that were included in two commercially released.

He had been found in contempt of court by Judge Smoak as a result of his actions in a civil suit brought against him by seven underage girls who said they were victimized physically and emotionally because they were filmed in sexual situations on Panama City beach during spring break during 2003, while they were under 18, the legal age of consent.

Francis has settled that lawsuit for an undisclosed amount of money. 5-16-07

I'm from the US and I don't watch TV either (not since 2003). This guy isn't the worse.

Not a month after 9/11, an infomercial came on selling these plastic American flags that could be clipped onto car windows. Looked cheesy enough, until it went into "show support for our country in its time of need" while showing pristine photos of the WTC from a few years back.

Nauseating. All for $19.95, or $14.95 for two if I ordered right away.

TV's are for DVD's.

He does though I don't know why...

Personally I dislike seeing drunk / stoned people so that's one mark against it for me...and the "action" is normally boring as hell.

For the most part it just reminds me that Americans tend to be sacks of sh!t...

I hope he trips up some stairs during his court hearing.

First off those girls gone wild adds are so damned annoying. I used to leave my tv on comedy central while playing PR or whatever and on the god damned dot of 1130, they start showing those commercials non-stop until 4 or 5 in the morning. And I'm usually too lazy to change the channel, so i just sit there and complain.

anyways, girls are stupid. no ones forcing them or tricking them to show their tits. most women don't mind, or enjoy exploiting themselves.

and please let's leave the "is it empowering or degrading to make money by exploiting yourself" arguement out of this.

When you have a sloppy drunk 16 or 17 girl on srping break and you flash some cash at them it is tricking them because they don't have the experience to understand that tomorrow they will feel different about what they did.
Considering he is making millions on these films he could at least follow the law concerning documenting their ages.
