Heh-heh...The young ones, man that show was totally wacked-out. I wonder what happened to the cast members? I remember they did a spin-off with Rik Mayall and the Viviyan dude but wasn't quite as good without the hippie charactor (Nigel something) but had it's moments.

Rik Mayall was in Drop Dead Fred, but besides that don't know what any of the other characters did. And Bottoms is the show with Viv and Rik.

And of course I watch Monty Python and Benny Hill those are such classics and givens I didn't even think of it when typing!

Anyone see the mighty Boosh? I know I might kind of be the only one to really "get" the show because of the inside jokes in it but it's so random and hilarious.

And JP I think my girlfirneds parents have rescue me on dvd, ill give it a check out sometime.

Just seems like there is too much drama in most american shows, even sitcoms. or its just reality tv. but then again, im in a box where the only thing i ever seem to watch is discovery, history, and military channels pretty much.

I thought this was about bad shows?

Well, pretty much any reality television is awful. Generally anything on after midnight.

And what is it with incidental music in documentaries and the spoon feeding these days?

Each fifteen minute segment consists of five minutes telling you what happened in the previous segment, five minutes of material and five minutes telling you what is going to happen in the next segment. In total (with five minute ad breaks) you end up with perhaps fifteen minutes of actual content in a one-hour show. To make matters worse, the whole thing is badly constructed, with mildly sinister music and "omigosh!" narration.

Utter Tripe.

The only decent documentaries now showing are on BBC Four, and anything that makes it out of the Natural History unit (Blue Planet, etc).

Oh, now I remember.....

Is Top Gear still on BBC and what time?
Because that episode of the guy being chased by a Challenger 2 tank was hillarious...

I'm just asking because it seems like I'm a bigger fan of more BBC shows then I am of US shows. Some of my favorites are the Office, Extras, the Mighty Boosh, Young Ones, Bottoms, hmm that's all that comes to mind.

Also I don't know if I think it's genious or if I think it's rubbish, but only having 1 or 2 seasons of shows kind of stinks, but at the same time, I don't think all US sitcoms need to have 7-10 seasons either.

There are plenty that are shite, you are lucky that you only get to see the good ones.
Ditto in the UK, we only get to see decent US programmes, 24, ER, Frasier etc etc.
Actually having to watch TV in the US, without the filter of programme buyers is a very depressing experience indeed.

EASTENDERS omfg need i say more.

One of the most popular TV shows in the UK, a flippin soap, i'd prefer to have my head up a bears arse than subject my self to 2 minutes of that, great British TV.
The funny thing is, my wife absolutely adores it, cant get enough, i cant even talk to her when its on.. don’t know why i married her, oh yeah she doesn't mind me playing PR, way too much

I love this show, the first time I saw it I said to myself "this is what a car show should be!" The frigg'n N. American car shows are so conservative and bland. "Well this week on our show we are looking at the Ferrari F430, it does the quarter mile in 12.0 sec" (most important car info in N. America -> whats a corner? ) Insert clip of car running quarter mile. Now the rest of the segment shows some dumb ass driving around in a F430 driving at 30mph in subdivision saying "I really like the cup holders" "The suspension is too firm" "the audio controls fall to hand nicely" "I like the stitching of the leather but the seats are to narrow and hold me too snug" "I can't fit my golf bag in here!"

Oh it just hurts my brain to watch these shows now that I have seen Top Gear. The segment on TG showing the same car would have about 10 minutes of them flogging that car on a track, the ass end of the car sliding, ripping down the straight, and Jeremy Clarkson laughing like a mad man about the car It's a simple formula really, drive the crap out of the car(s) if there good say so, if there not don't and don't be affraid to enjoy yourself. Don't fret over the cup holders or stereo

Love Monty Python and Fawlty Towers. I don't watch many other Brit shows. I don't really watch TV, I find most shows predictable, un-original, meladramatic and boring. I much prefer documentaries to sitcoms.

Cheers,

Close your eyes and imagine some really cool military picture, or better yet a really funny picture in this space. I said close your eyes damnit!
