I take the chance because history is on my side and carbon taxes are not.

Working on that analogy, there are several problems with fixing the leak.
a)We don't know if it really is leaking; b)We don't know where the source of the leak is; c)We don't know whether we can fix it or not; d)We don't know how to fix it permanantly. b, c, and d all work on the presumption that there really is a leak, and it isn't just the hot sun getting to some people (in keeping with analogies, the hot sun represents the propaganda and lies spread by the government using flawed science) So, if we don't know if the boat really is leaking, why bother trying to fix it? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. |

So either this comes from natural osmosis and the occasional rain. Or perhaps its the multitude of people on board who keep scratching the hull or peeing where they aren't supposed to, and really don't want to change their habits because its their way of life. But either way, natural or not, we'll soon be knee deep in shit. But as it increases only ever so slowly we get used to it, and forget that that once the boat smelled otherwise then ammonia. Don't you just love analogies

See, i'm all for reducing pollutant emissions, great idea. But only on the condition that it doesn't affect our development or other people's. The ironic thing is that an awful lot of people who are extremely green are also very pro-aid to the third world. They put pressure on governments to help the third world, yet it is their ideal of zero carbon emissions that is (helping to) keep them there in the first place. OMG those people are frustrating

I mean, we survived ice ages, so why wouldn't we be able to survive the 'great catastrophes' that are so apparently imminent?
I think you need a very narrowly defined version of " survive" and "we". I am actually a fence sitter on the issue because common sense says we produce more heat now than we did 500 years ago and in 500 years will produce even more heat and at some point the system will reject that. Crichton's book was all about the self serving nature of the issue and the corruption on both sides of the scientific process. That is what frightens me. As for your boat....... I think it more accurate to say that one group on the boat wants everyone to get out and search the hull for leaks in shark infested water while the majority simply wants to look for the leak while underway. Yes, there is a group that says there is no leak but there is also a group that says there is no boat so it's up to the common sense people to discover a solution to the problem. Because even if the there is no leak, more and more people keep getting in the boat and sooner or later it will swamp. I think the showing of an "inconvenient Truth" in Canadian schools to the extent mentioned in the article goes a long way to proving that the pro-warming crowd is not interested in educating the masses but merely into bullshitting them into abject fear. You do understand that the pro-warming crowd favors more laws and regulations and a much greater government footprint in your life. If CO2 is a regulated pollutant then we are all polluters and we all need to be regulated. I don't know about you, but I'm not anxious to give the federal government anymore power than it already has. |

Well I think we all know something is going on, and if you dont you need to get out more. And if we don't wanna blame ourselves for it at least acknowledge its going on (naturally, human, aliens, god).
It really doesn't mater what we do, its happening and its only going to be acknowledged when vasts about of people start to die. But hey some people still believe California can float away... |

I think most people agree that climate change is real and is happening. The problem is saying it's caused by humans and then wanting to create new laws because of that, when it isn't proven and solar activity has more to do with it than anything as far as warming the planet.

Its quite easy to understand, for example in the last 30 year the sky in Palm spring has gotten browner and browner due to population growth. I'm sure that not good for our healths. And its really that easy.

I thought Denver had some of the nattiest air because of thermal inversion or something ?
There is a difference between clean air standards and getting the SUV under the CAFE system, if the even still exists. |
