I miss the F-14
This thread is a tribute to the greatest jet fighter ever made...the F-14 Tomcat.
I don't know why I like that airplane so much. The closest I've come to one was a shell of an F-14 in the California desert. Never even seen one flying. But I think the reason I like it so much is because when I picture in my head the perfect jet fighter, the F-14 is it. Maybe its simply the way it looks, aggressive, powerful...perfect lines and balance, perfect proportions. It just looks good. It also is the first model airplane I ever built, and I've built three of them, the last one being my crown jewel, a Jolly Rogers model. Man, good stuff. Watch this video and I guarantee you it'll get emotional. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbyNc3GxMN4 Anybody else have a place in their heart reserved for the Tomcat? |

Your Statement on the F-14 Tomcat being the "greatest" Fighter in the world sadly, cant be true But, The F-14 in my Heart deserves its place as a Highly Respected Fighter Aircraft, it was highly Capable and i Feal what attempts to replace it will never Truely Replace it. The F-14 was loved By Many and will be Missed by all. I still Believe atleast 1 Should be kept in Flying Condition as this Fighter is Still Amazing even to Todays Standerds.

Yeah, I don't like the way the US military is going away from specialized aircraft and more towards multi-task types. F/A-18 D/E might be a good aircraft and all, but the F-14 is a far better fleet defender. But its ok, I believe a squadron or two of Tomcats have only been mothballed and can be called into service again if needed. And for whatever reason the A-7 Corsair II is my favorite military jet. I just like the looks of it I think. | |

*Hums "Highway to the Danger Zone"*
I loved that bird since I saw Topgun when I was little-er. Honestly, the thing is awesome. Just the way it operates is truely great, nothing cooler than watching the wings fold or unfold and seeing that thing burn air on it's way in to a dog fight. Add it to PR <<; |
