China and WW2 Weapons?

I've always wondered why people always say that the PLA heavily uses WW2 era weapons. The other day, I was playing Battleship, and someone made that exact comment. He wouldn't believe me when I said China actually used AK copies and Type-95s. Now I came upon the source.

People look at an image like this and think "Wow, they all have bolt action rifles in their hands, that must be what they use!"

Am I correct?

Just to clear this up, those are in fact ceremonial rifles, and is similar to Britain's Royal Army's traditional gear when standing guard outside of a palace. To actually use those things in war would be madness.

I know players here are probably smarter than this, but I thought I'd just get this out there.

.

Under normal circumstances, everybody pwns Griffon, in Soviet Russia, Griffon pwns EVERYBODY!

just so you know, the Palace guards in the UK dont use ceremonial rifles during the guard duty, they use the SA80's

gurkhas standing guard with FN FAL's (its a old picture so bare with me), nothing ceremonial.

BUt yes, i never understood why people immidiately think Chinas military stuggles with technology.
