Blackwater- thoughts.

Obviously guys got a bias but does raise some good points. Is it just me or does the concept of a private army seem very scary? |

Your embed didn't work. Guns for hire with limited oversight and accountability is a bad thing, but it's the way of the future.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Essex sucks, chavvy scum.
Anyway, I'm all for PMCs. It gives the opportunity for many soldiers who have specialist training and many years of service a chance to finally earn a lot of money for what they love doing. |

There have been private armies running around for hundreds of years, This is nothing new.
Companies like Sandline were making a killing in this business long before blackwater rolled up. Iraq is just the latest (and most profitable) in a long line of hot spots where PMCs have been employed. |

Did you know as a combat medic in Iraq you can make $600 a day for Blackwater? You're deployed for 2 months, then you get a months leave. $36,000 doesn't sound bad for 2 months work to me.

Or if you're really special, you can get a contract for 2-5 million, with times varying from 2-5 years.
There's actually a great book all about the Rise of Blackwater. |
