Media player problem
Right, rather annoying problem here.
Whenever I load a video from the internet/play one from my pc it'll start the video then freeze and continue playing sound but media player will be 'not responding'. When I 'end now' the pc either freezes completely or everything freezes apart from I can still move the mouse about, although can't click on anything. So I have to power off and restart. I uninstalled 11, which 'rolls it back' to the previous version (10). Then re-installed 11 and it was all working fine for a while, then it started happening again and even with 10?? |

hmm, if you really need to use WMP then maybe make sure your data is safe in a second HDD partition and reformat and reinstall your pc. XP builds don't last forever, they do corrupt. Might want to run a floppy or cd loaded DOS program that checks the stauts of your HDD to see if it is starting to break down
For now, try with Videolan, also install Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative (both use media player classic) all free and very useful players I mainly use all the time |

Actually I've just realised the same thing is happening with real player as well, no doubt others.

Ok some progress, turning video acceleration down in the tools menu allows me to watch a file but when I change it to full screen it says media player has encountered an error and needs to close.

Right well I installed VideoLAN and it's ace!
I love the ability to take a snapshot of a film you're watching to get a picture you can use a desktop etc. Better then WMP. |

Well, it seems to be happening with almost all media players.
Kinda works but with poor quality when I turn hardware acceleration right down. Up to date drivers and all. Oh well, I'm wanting a new system anyway. |
