A court in Germany has agreed to release former member of the Baader-Meinhof gang, Brigitte Mohnhaupt, 24 years after she was first incarcerated for her role in a campaign of kidnapping and killing in the 1970s.

I was disgusted when I heard this story. She kidnaps and brutally murders nine people, gets convicted and given five life sentences, never once apologizes or says she regrets her actions, and after only 24 years is released to the public. Apparently being sorry and regretting ones actions are not part of the German rehabilitation system. I am praying for vigilante justice seeing as the German government isn't fit for the task.

When I first read that I thought it said 24 hours! I was like, WTF???

But 24 years is a long time. If she's elligable for parole and they determined no security risk, that's just the system doing it's thing. I hardly think it's appropriate to call for vigilanty justice.

So you don't see a problem that he has shown no regret for her actions? You see no problem that she isn't sorry for putting 60 bullets into the corpse of police officer?

I see a problem with that. But how would keeping her in the system help that, other than continuing to use taxpayer money? If the parole board believes she's no longer a threat, and she's served her minimum term, she should be released. If you think the parole board has made a mistake about the threat assessment, that's another matter.

It is not the place of society to seek vengance.

I'm agreeing with you completely Lonelyjew, this really isn't acceptable by the German government.
And do you think the taxpayer have stopped paying for her now she's out? I'm gonna think the police will be paying for a safehouse, protection, identity cover-ups, the works. Do you honestly think anyone in Germany will give her a job? Or anywhere in the world?
The German taxpayers will be supporting her for the rest of her life, it's just now she's free.

No, they probably won't protect. She'll change her name and be responsible for herself. Or she won't be allowed to change her name and will just be screwed, like Karla Homolka (though she did switch to her maiden name).
