Please Avoid using this forum during release hours.

As a favor to everyone. The less server load the more we can find out about the mod and its release.

Thanks.

If an admin says I don't know shit about server load then I will eat my suggestion's words when that is posted in response.

they should just close every thread on the site besides General discussion and the Announcements thread up at top. That way the server wont get overloaded.

EDIT: Just on release day of course.

For some reason I don't think it will be that bad. There's been a lull lately, and only about 100 people (tops) out of the 600 or so that play PR really read the forums. I think it will be a gradual conversion. First the forum readers will get it, then the clans, then the random people that notice the sudden drop in player base in .4

Well, now that you put it that I think rather then playing the mod I'm just going to spend my day tomorrow hitting the reload button as often as possible to tie up bandwidth.

Thanks luizinhuu for the find

I honestly don't think it makes much of a difference unless Darth, Dylan, Blake, trogdor, Leo, or Fullforce are here. Especially trogdor.

If we get a new "guess 'teh' gun thread", Bob_Marley and Losus_Deliosus might count too.

I may not post a whole lot, but I read these forums non-stop so I do still count. Actually a question for the webmaster, when you hit your cpu quota what is the lockdown time like? If it is rather short then I think its not too much problem if people just stop visiting (or drastically reduce their usage) the forums for 24 hours after the first time they see the cpu quota error, that should keep the forum from continually going down during the hype.

Well, today we had 500 registered members visit the forums, and at the time of this posting there are 79 guests on the boards. Ever since the Mod of the Year contest we have been getting quite high number of guests, sometimes going above 100.

Now, the problem isn't so much people posting in the forums, it has to do with how many people are visiting them. There will be a huge influx of guests on release day, that is a given. It is likely that with enough of these people on the forums, it will cause the site to go down, even without them posting.

Although there will be far less members on the forums than guests, 1 less person on the board always helps, so I think this thread does have a somewhat noble cause.

Remember, PR Devs use the forums for Dev Team stuff as well! When the forums go down we also lose a form of communication, which isn't a great thing on release day, in case problems do crop up.

Amazing, at the time of this post we curently have 11 more guest then actual members. That brings the grand total to... Guest=55 Members=44

I remember back in .2 days we could have never dreamed of this happening. Times are changing.

Why not shut down the whole site with a page that says "THE SITE HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO SAVE BANDWIDTH" and then put download links?
