So i got bored...

And I decided to attempt overclocking.

not too bad for a first /real/ try, not using anything like the AI overclocking or DFI equivalent i've always used.

Reality is what we take to be true. What we take to be true is what we believe. What we believe is based upon our perceptions. What we perceive depends upon what we look for. What we look for depends on what we think. What we think depends on what we perceive. What we perceive determines what we believe. What we believe determines what we take to be true. What we take to be true is our reality.

Does a 6600 really need OC'ing anyway ?

I hate it when people talk about overclocking...

...because it sounds the sh*t and I can't do it (*is also jealous of Core 2 Duo*)

You just need to go into your BIOs and raise the FSB speed.

Most brand name computers (ie; Dell, HP, Compaq) disable to option to OC.

If you're talking about OC'ing your CPU.

OC'ing your GPU is a whole lot easier.

most modern mobos come with OC'ing instructions in their user manuals now actually, atleast mine did. No, it doesn't NEED to be oc'd, hell, i could've settled for a 6300. But most people don't need tuners or muscle cars that can go 200mph when the legal speed limit is somewhere between 55-75 depending on where you live. It's just to say you can. Also makes me feel better about spending 319 on a CPU. I've got mine up to x6800 specs for $600 less.

- on GPU oc'ing... i've had nothing but problems trying to oc my 8800, but i guess by the time i need to have more performance, i'll be able to toss a second in for relatively cheap

I'm thinking of bumping my CPU by .2Ghz but wait for my borked mem stick to get back and for the water cooling to arrive.
