The Vietnames are the nicest people in the world though. They just drive insane. One time my Dad was riding around in a cyclo, taking pictures on his nice camera. Two guys on a motorbike came by and snatched his camera. Then a bunch of the guys around him on motorbikes chased the two guys, weaving in and out of traffic. They couldn't catch the guys of course, but I ask you: if you were a Vietnamese guy, and you saw some rich wide guy (who you assume is American and therefore from the country that bombed your infrastructure back to the stone age) get his camera stolen, would you risk life and limb just to return it?

I've been to Indonesia several times. One week in Jakarta, and weeks in Bali on 3 or 4 seperate occasions. I'd definately call Vietnam less "civilized" though. At least when I was there ('94-'97).

Yeah, becasue Viet-Nam's infrastructure was, as you said, bombed back to the stone age, so 4000 years of civilization gone. Much better in China though, but in Shanghai in the neighborhood where I lived, the streets will fill with people instead of cars in the morning and we'd have people jams.
