Also, it looks like the plane's in the shop. How do you know it was being used in it's current state? Or that it was even ever used? It could have been manufacturing, shipping, or storage problems.

It had apparently been no problem for the tough guys back in China: as they took some sturdy straps and wrapped them around two of the fan blades and the structures behind, thus stopping any unwanted windmilling
Basically, they jerry-rigged it to work on the order of seat belts in lieu of duct tape. The aircraft set down in Germany over low fuel and I somehow doubt a Chinese airline operates short-range in Europe.

I don't think you can judge an entire country based on the conditions of the engines of one plane.
*ahem*...I do...

I came to Canada from Shanghai to Tokyo to Vancouver in a Chinese airline. It wasn't bad, and was very westernized, you can order hamburgers, Sprite (r), Coke, etc. Really depends on what you pay for.

.

Under normal circumstances, everybody pwns Griffon, in Soviet Russia, Griffon pwns EVERYBODY!

There you go; it's a parable for the entire modern world. As long as the hamburgers and cokes are there in plenty, everything is A-OK..
