Yea, saw this on the news earlier. Good to see people thinking out of the box and no stupid ass red tape stopping them doing it, also people willing to strap themselves to the wings of an apache. Crazy bastards.

was in Afghanistan. Nice to know you can strap ourselves to Apache helicopters.
Sgt X: "Right lads, get on the 4 tonner". Soldier Y "No thanks Sarge, I called shotgun on the Apache". Sgt X "WTFLOLZ0RS". |

Apparently they train to such things, and theres a purpose built point to each side of the Apaches cockpit where a single person on each side can sit (not on the weapons boom as that article states) and strap on. The Army gave a quick demonstration to this reporter. Apparently its a method used to quickly retrieve downed air crews. Can't say id like to of done it though.

That must have been one crazy fairground ride! I've almost been thrown out of the back of pickups doing 80mph across bumps, pulled wingmirrors off and smashed indicators in on landies whilst trying to get 16 people in and on a single landie to a chopper pick up point in time,, but flying strapped to a gunship takes absolute guts. clinging to the outside of a tremendously loud chopper AND flying into a combat zone where you could picked off the side very easily, I see some mentions in dispatches coming up.
