"That's real war, then."

I have a friend who doesn't play Battlefield 2, but I found this picture and sent it to him. In the chatter that followed, a nasty idea popped up.

Me: It can be done. Set the map to have a time limit of, say, 60 minutes. Then set your respawn time to 60 minutes. Done.
Me: Once one side is gone, game over.
Him: That's real war then.
Me: That'd be a real b**** and you'd sure as f*** see everyone being Captain Caution and all in squads.
Me: Oh, and set the vehicle respawn to 60 minutes as well. Once the USMC loses their carrier's precious AH1Z attack helicopter, no more...
Me: I'd set the timer to 30 minutes. It wouldn't last 60 minutes.
An interesting experiment to be sure. If I had a server (planning on it) I'd implement it immediately and see how it goes: how would having only one life to give fare? I'm not sure if the gameplay would change or remain the semi-deathmatch it currently is.

2.If you did a server like that, itd be hella fun, however, most people would leave after dying, so it would never be very full.

I'd guess so. Unless the timer was 5-10 minutes...

itd be quicker to re-join the server i suppose you could do that. And spawn again.

Could be interesting, but doubt that you'll be able to get enough people to join in to play it (even less chances of having 2 full teams). Unless to prepare something like a tournement or an IGI battle night thingy.

Other thing, what happens if you disconnect/reconnect ? does it keep the counter in memory or does it go back to zero ?

Hope you get a bit of buzz about this, i'd like seeing it go forth

Long games where you only get one life (OFP) only work if you can actually stay alive more than 10 seconds. BF2/PR's gameplay is too fast paced to allow you to stay alive for hours on end.

You cant have 60min spawn time cause then you have to wait an hour to spawn, and if you cant spawn then there will be no one fighting.

I think you just accomplished world peace

128vs128 is easy duckhunt, you just need a BotChanger tool from fileplanet or something

Plus alot of people oppuse this sort of gameplay and it "spoils" the fun (for them).

I agree but IF we could have larger maps, bigger squads and better character physics (look down seen legs, arms hits cuase accracry down), life expectancy would go up.
