Fond BF2 Demo Memories.
Anybody else have fond memories of the BF2 demo?
I remember it like it was July of 2005, because it was. I had just received my shiny new Dell Dimention 9100, the only computer I had ever had which was capable of running games. The first demo I downloaded was BF2. It was my first online multiplayer game on the PC. I thought it was absolutely fantastic. I was so shocked at what was capable on the PC! I remember the USS Essex always being cramped with people waiting for get a chance to fly a jet. My main strategy was to spawn as a Sniper, and make my way to the MEC airfield. I would then proceed to hop into one of the two bunkers, or plop myself down on the grass hill overlooking the airfield. I would sit there, picking people off as they spawned. Most of them remained completely oblivious to the whole thing. Of course, I don't do that anymore http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IRHYZXqWBg At 1:56 - I don't even recall the two tank portions being seperated! Was this removed, or am I just losing my mind? Did anybody else enjoy the demo when it was released? Brings back fond memories |

I remember the first time I tried BF2, I was absolutely blown away.
Now I'm used to it, and it's sort of 'blah.' |

I loved the F35s, they sounded so realistic and "immersive" at the time.

Played it and the first reaction was... a depressed sigh. guns? unrealistic. player movement? unrealistic. one player gets god mode? great...
my clan and i wer so much better than everyone else that we just formed 'spec ops' clans and spent all our time being mec and taking over the carrier... because we could and no one could stop us. i felt really cheated. then i gave up hope that i'd ever find a game i really liked. honestly i felt like a girl had jsut dumped me or something, it was really pathetic. i still have anger issues... by the time the game came out, i quit my clan (which i had been in for 1 and a half years) because, while in vietnam the guns were close to realistic... bf2 gameplay was retarded. the main problem was that the maps just sucked. I hate ALL the bf2 maps, can't think of one 'good' one. |

I reserve my fondest memories for the BF42 demo. For me, besides the graphics BF2 was a total bummer. Transitioning to a god-kid commander based game after playing BF42 and Desert Combat for 3 solid years made me sick to my stomach. I'm humbly grateful to the PRm devs for bringing the love of the game back for me.

Gulf of Oman still is my favourite vanilla map purely from the demo. Its perfect - beautiful, wide variety of vehicles and of course, the carrier. Hours I spent pioneering the "lolattack" technique of boarding the USS Essex and sabotaging the equipment, and I was a dab hand at it.

the demo was great once it had the time limit removed. i think it was fun because every one was a n00b and the battles seemed much more fun without the bunnyhopping and nade spamming thats rampant now

Was almost like being a young child in a toy store, the awe, amazement, nievety, inocence, playing with minature (in this case; virtual) version of things becuase you are too young to use the real things of (TANKS)!
