poor info in a video

Somebody suggested the Barret and got the thread locked because it has been suggested at least once before.

The man is comparing a single shot, no magazine sniper rifle to the barret and says it can take 20 seconds to load and fire a bolt action rifle.
This is what passes for info ?
They also call the Barret a " stealth" rifle.
This is my evidence of how full of sh*t TV/Internet is. I know that info is false because I'm a semi recovered gun data nut but the average person is going to believe the stuff they are saying.
Like how nervous you would be in an APC if the Barret was firing.
I will let some of our unrecovered gun data nuts discuss which APC the .50 can penetrate but nonetheless nobody zooming along in a BTR is worried about happyslappy and his .50 sniper rifle.
It's a great weapon, and I'd love to see more of it in the game but it's not all they hype it up to be.
I remember reading few years ago that the Marines never even used it during a tour in Fallujah I think.

They talk like that to grasp the masses. It's the kind of programme that would tell you the blunderbus is the most deadly Air to Air weapon in service today.

The only problem is, if thats the first exposure you've had to that kind of thing, why would you question it....thats the worrying part.

Basicly, barret is used to take out satellite dishes, mines and other small stuff. It's effective firing range is 600m. Even then it spreads 30cm.

Maybe he had 1.5-2 seconds on his script but read it wrong. I was also confused when he said that an APC is the last place you want to be when a .50 cal is flying around. Ummm...

So the Barrett is actually a powerful heavy but inaccurate gun?

I beg to differ about the history channel. I just finished a class that focused on western civilization and the history behind it (such as The French Revolution, World War 1, World War 2, etc) and not too recently I saw a show on the history channel that gave very similar if not exact information on what I just learned.

I don't see what "watered down bs" you're referring to unless you're just making it up; "Hitler was a very bad man, he killed bunnies, lots of bunnies. He killed so many bunnies that Easter was cancelled and there were no more eggs to be layed by the chicke---we mean bunnies. You are watching the History Channel."

I've heard accounts of barrets killing at over 1 mile away, I can't name any particular source, but considering that a marksmen could shoot 600m without a sniper rifle I'd say that you're wrong.

According to Modern Firearms & Ammunition site the barrett m82, m90, and m95 all are effective at up to 1800m.

Oh I hate that guy! I like the show, but I hate that guy. He is such a shitty host, he is way too serious and grave, it just doesn't work.

And he isn't saying it takes 15-20 seconds to do the bolt action, he's saying it takes 15-20 seconds to pull the bolt back, put a new bullet in and put the bolt back. Which... 15-20 seconds, is still a long time. Maybe if you never handled a gun before it would take you that long. But I can do the bolt action and put another bullet back in in about 10 seconds and I'm completely untrained!

I don't know much about the ammunition, but I'm sure they have AP rounds that do some kind of decent damage to an APC? Or maybe they are talking about crummy afghan technicals?

And I much rather be in an APC then out in the open no matter WHAT kind of bullets are flying around!
