Children of Men
First, go see the movie, it is the best I have seen in a while!
What I found interesting is the guns used throughout the movie. * very minor spoilers below, more spoilers in the trailer then this * (note, the movie takes place in Britain, and is set around 2025) The military/security guys are armed with what looks to be an XM8, odd, since it is a canceled US weapons program. Also, the magazines are not translucent, but solid, with two shiny holes down the side. The insurgent type people are armed with a variety of AKs, M4s, G36ks, and what I think was a SCAR with a 45 round mag. All the groups weapons are heavily modified, all of them have scopes, UGLs, sometimes it even got a little absurd, on guy had 6 tubes on his gun. The UK military was armed with (oddly enough since they have XM8s....) with old L85s, and G36s. The UK camo is interesting, could someone please identify it? Anyways, the film was very good, no, great, I saw it Sunday in a packed theater. There was one action sequence that was all one shot. I didn't notice it until it ended, but everybody in the theater including me was holding there breath, not until after it ended everyone collectively took a breath that I noticed. There was laughter, action, suspense, romance, everything. Great movie. Go see it, and post your thoughts here. |

I've been meaning to go see it, although I don't know if I'll have the time.
It's been getting really good reviews. |

My wife and I just saw that. Great work of art. I find that it wasn't a "what COULD happen" situation. Just a symbolic metaphor on all current issues. The whole precious aspect of life; with no preaching and dogma, was refreshing. Plus i was surprised by the realistic approach to things. The killing was horrifying in a strange unhollywood type of way. Plus it made me laugh with the humor in it, went through a good range of emotions. It freaked me out. Loved it.

My brother told me it was crap, so I always knew there was a good chance it could be the best film of all time.

Saw it a few months ago. I didn't think it was amazing, but it was ok. And I have to be honest, GeZe, most people wouldn't watch a film just to see what weapons the producers think will be used in 15 years...

the weapons were the main reason I was going to watch it.
Define: " most people", in context of the audience here in PR. |
