S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is coming, March 17

I think it's going to be good.

Maybe Project Reality should investigate shifting over to its X-Ray engine...

most delayed game after duke nukem...
I did not experience it to be released at all.
The sad story:
The gameplay sounded great in the beginning:
Massive interactivity and no clear storyline but lots of things to explore.
Vehicles
Multiplayer with vehicles and great maps.

All that has been kicked out. I won`t buy it.

The massive interactivity will still be there. Vehicles will be shipped in the files and an early mod will no doubt activate them. They were taken out because too many testers were driving into anomalies and getting wasted.

Still the same environment to explore, still the same Artificial Life system to create non repeatable chaos...Multiplayer is still there..

And those are poor res screens...it's still a fine looking Direct X 9 game.

Dynamic shadows and lighting...that's what I want..

3: Will the game still be able to measure up against the newest games? Will it be using the latest techniques on the graphical end?
No doubt it will. Particularly with that idea in mind we’ve created our DX9 renderer technology for the game. We are making sure the owners of hi-end machine can justify the money invested into their expensive gear . I can reassure S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will sport the latest eye-candy available in the market. At the same time, the extensive scalable options system will allow the owners of lower-end machines to adjust the performance as they feel comfortable (the game ships with two renderers DX9 and DX. Here’re some of the features the X-Ray engine will shine with:

* Possibly one of the best in the world implementations of Defferred Shading, allowing to draw a vast amount of dynamic light sources, with correct materials and light ‘response’, while not limiting ourselves to Deferred Lighting, but truly using the deferred shading.
* A very effective collision model allowing to make a lot of requests and crossings per second on complex geometry (for example, with our complex geometry – in resolution of 320*200 we can refrain from drawing the picture by videocard, but retrace it fully in real-time)
* Dynamic day-night switching system
* Dynamic weather effects as rain, wind, fog, etc.
* Dynamic shadows and lighting
* True per-pixel dynamic lighting
* Powerful physics engine, i.e controlling vehicles, detailing objects, bullet ballistics, skeleton animation, etc.
* Up to 1 000 000 polygons on screen
* Parallax/normal bump
* Realistic weapons (bullet ballistics, barrel-attached grenades, grenade launchers and so on)
* Life simulation system
* Planning AI

I have a leaked alpha of stalker that i got like 3 or 4 years ago LOL! It looked pretty cool, and I was able to hack it to do multiplayer:

Mind you the final game probably looks better than these really old screens eh?

The engine is 6 years old.........It seems to me just a very outdated source engine. The PC Gamer preview even noted that the graphics were outdated, and they very rarely comment on any low points in their previews....

Not quite 6 years old...surely...

They rebuilt it a couple years ago to handle Direct X 9 and the direct X 9 screens are actually pretty fine looking...it won't be the revolution that we expected 4years ago but it still has dynamic lighting which BF2 and HL2 don't have so that alone will be pretty cool.
