Anti-Aliasing
Hi guys, I've searched for the answer but can't find it anywhere.
I have a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE (damn thing keeps crashing) and I run everything on the highest settings, but when I try to turn on anti-aliasing (even just x2) it starts to get laggy as hell. Everything will become choppy and all in all it'll just suck ass. I really do want anti-aliasing because it does make everything clearer, I'll put up two screenshots later to show the differance. Now, is this happening because my vid card doesn't support anti-aliasing, or is there something else? EDIT: The pics, with AA http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/5...reen290lw3.png Without AA http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/5...reen185tw6.jpg |

LE = Light Edition = aka CRAP edition
i think you'll have to tune down other setting to tune up anti-aliasing, 7300le is crappy |

Damn it, I knew this vid card was a piece of crap. When I first got it it would crash every 30 min with the blue screen of death.

hm. if your card crash, try to update your vga drivers. http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp <- here is the address. maybe it'll help. it did for me. and yes. check if your graphicscard needs more power. (if you forgot to plug in the extra power thingy.. ;P 4 pins or 6 pins)
usually when you get a bluescreen, its a driver problem.. good luck |

2x anti aliasing means the video card is rendering everything at twice the resolution. So if you're stretching the video card slightly already, you'll see a significant drop in performance turning on AA, whatever gfx card you want. You'll have to turn down some other settings if you want AA. Or just running at a higher resolution gives you some of the same effects at less cost to performance.

in PR, a ati x850xtpe will give you all medium graphics at 1024x768 and 2xAA if you have a decent cpu and 2gigs of ram.
a ati x1950pro 256meg will give you max everything at 1280x1024 and see 80-100fps normally with a decent cpu and ram depending on map geforce x1950pro 512meg can be had for £140 plus postage from ebuyer make sure you have an excellent power supply though, alot of them aren't up to powering topend graphics cards. something like a hiper 580w at £60 will do nicely, is fairly quiet and will last a long time. |
