That wasnt an M4! It was its vastly cooler early 1990s bigger brother, the M733, the last of the true Colt Commandos!

Anyway, I did quite like Ronin (lets face it, it has Shaun Bean, its got to be good), but My favorate shoot out scene of all time is the bit where the Germans launch thier armoured thrust across the Bridge at Arnhiem and get thrown back by the Paras, in A Bridge Too Far.

Compared to Bridge too far Saving Private Ryan was rubbish.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

The best shootout is the whole of the film Enemy at the Gates. It's a Sniper shootout!

Yeah, I watched it again, too.
By the way is there an uncut version on DVD? Or is no version cut?

Do I detect a hint of bounding overwatch?

Oh, and yes, this is indeed the best shootout I've seen in a while.

There is an extended version on DVD (I own it), but the level of violence is pretty much the same in both versions. The deleted scenes don't add much, in my opinion.

imdb says, that the actors had to take "power weapon" lessons for that scene, whatever that is ^^

I'm guessing it's taking it further than simple firing and reloading.

Probably includes suppression firing to keep opponents off balance and to include movement across terrain at same time.

One example will be an SAS 4 man squad movement under heavy fire. moving as pairs, all 4 spread out, inner two sprint then turn inwards and kneel on one leg and start firing when outer two stop firing, turn outwards and start springting past the inner two, till they reach a position where they can turn outwards, kneel and start firing, when inner two stop firing, turn inwards and sprint through the outer two's positon and then turn inwards, kneel and open fire.

It's a modification of the standard british army fire and manouvre tactic. An officer I know in the infantry was taught it by the SAS in North Africa in the early 90's and it is an excellent method of retreating from enemy fast whilst putting down the most effective fire to delay/and or kill any following enemy.
