Processor Swapping

So Im sitting on a boatload of cash now, (half sarcastic

) and I was wondering if it was possible to swap processors on compatible motherboards? For instance, I (will) have a Intel 963 chipset with a core 2 E6300. Would it be possible to rip that thing out and stick a E6600 in it? Do I have to change bios and stuff?

it shouldn't cause a problem with anything but Windows, i think, with windows' hardware auth. issues--- rather, "features'
