SAS, The real Story.

So i was browsing around You-Tube, when i came across a documentry about the SAS. I started a new thread and didnt post this on the "Best Special Forces" thread is because im not saying SAS is better than every other Special Forces out there, but i think it is the most "well Known" special forces.

Watch the Documentry and see why!

Oh and please, keep the "US SPECIAL FORCES AND DELTA OR RANGER OR THINGAMAJIG FORCES ARE WAY BETTER" out!!

(Mods, if you think this topic doesnt deserve its own thread then feel free to merge it with the other thread about Special Forces).

SAS - the real story - Part 1
SAS - the real story - Part 2
SAS - the real story - Part 3
SAS - The real story - Part 4
SAS - The real story - Part 5

Nice post! Good find!

EDIT: Just noticed something: the SAS men in the clips all shoot from the hip as they clear the rooms. Wouldn't they fire from the shoulder for accuracy?

KP still is the number one hottie, noobs.

They dont need to - man, these guys train all the time... they can use the taclight if they need to but they are using MP5's in that and the shooting is somewhat automatic after ten thousand practise sweeps of the killing house, I imagine... It's CQB and it's whatever gets the job done...

I guess they were trained for that sort of stuff. Or maybe they were doing it for the camera ? not sure. (Because most of the clips you see are Reconstructions/Demonstrations).

Yeah, that figures. You'll also probably get a wider field of vision if you don't have to stare down the sights... I was just imagining shooting from the hip if you have to hit the bad guy over the hostage's shoulder.
EDIT: And of course the reconstructions are not like the real thing. And it all depends on the situation... Whatever gets the job done, as Sandy said.

I believe due to the short enguagment ranges and the fact that in that sort of situation its usually fairly dark (because they cut the power before storming the building) they aim with the flashlights attached to the forearms of thier MP5s.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Yeah, I think so. I'm fairly sure I saw it a few months ago.

Personally I prefur the "SAS: The Soldier's Story" series of documenteries from the mid 90's.
