Gaming Mics

I know alot of people have microphones or gamingheadsets or watever they are called but many people also dont have them, including me. PR is much more enjoyable when more people have them as you know, so what is stopping people getting them.
For me, it is the fact i know very little about about them. So i have a few questions:

- Do they act as speekers as well as microphones, or do only a few?

- Does the quality of the microphone vary greatly and the speekers, in terms of both input and output (bass ext.)?

- Any opinons on what is a reasonable price to pay for them and in particular, for specific features (possiblity "extra" featu)?

- Could you recomend any actual mikes and their good/ bad points them from your own experience?

PErsoanly, my speekers are acting alittle dodgy (sound cutting out, most calbe semi damaged) and my parents are often going potty about prolonged SAW firing and i desperately need a mike.
So i am looking for something that acts both as a microphone and speeker and has a good bit of bass and is no more than around 50 pounds.
I have done abit of research and come up with this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...r-21/ref=nosim - but it is alittle on the pricy side, but then again i am willing to pay if it is good quality. Any specific suggestions.

-Do they act as speekers as well as microphones, or do only a few? When you have a headset with microphone you can change settings: so that only sounds comes from the headset or that sounds come from the speekers. I prefer sound playback from the speekers otherwise people in this house think I'm talking to myself

- Does the quality of the microphone vary greatly and the speekers, in terms of both input and output (bass ext.)? This depends on which speekers you have and which microphone

- Any opinons on what is a reasonable price to pay for them and in particular, for specific features (possiblity "extra" featu)? I think when you want good quality microphone with headset you have to get them from 25/30 Euros (don't know how much Pounds that is?)

- Could you recomend any actual mikes and their good/ bad points them from your own experience? http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_...ch+usb+headset
I have Logitech USB Headset and good experiences with it. I don't remember which version I have there are different versions with different prizes

I spent $60 AU on a USB headset which is great. That's about 20 pounds, I think. Get something comfortable if you play the game a lot. I was blown away by how much VOIP changes the game and gameplay and what's really cool is you get to meet people from all over the world with all sorts of exotic accents. Understanding the accents is sometimes a challenge, but it's all good.

Although you amke a good point and certainly correct, i would rather do as you suggest Eden But my speekers are failing and i dont think i can afford both a new good mike and a decent set of new speekers.

So advise on a headphones/speakers & microphone woudl still be appriciated.

I was satesfied with my Logitech headset until it stopped working. It lasted 3 months. : /

I'm using 2.1 speakers + mic now and I couldn't be happier. Now I can hear the phone ring when I'm gaming.

In my case the sound quality of the headset was better than my speekers so you see this depends on what speekers you currently have.

I just use a Logitech headset that cost around £5. The mic is good and so is the sound quality, it does get a bit uncomfortable after 3 hours of playing
