Nice article.
Although the article rings true, do be aware that this doesn't translate very well into mods. However, in any case, all suggestions are subject to the developer's feelings on it. We aren't going to even entertain suggestions that we deem bad, radical, too much effort, or detrimental to gameplay/balance. For large, full development games, I think this is a fairly decent philosophy to work by. You have to know your community, and that includes those who don't visit forums, especially when your game is in development. Developers really do have to rely on their own intuition, because otherwise they will get no where. If we tried to stop and implement every suggestion from you guys, before ever releasing, you wouldn't see PR until 2012, when we'd only have 1 guy left suggesting things, and he'd finally run out of suggestions. |
