Seems pretty interesting to say the least :

Starship Corporation is a Realtime Strategy Game that contains 4 Elements: Ship Design, Crew and AI Tactics, Ship Building and Trade. The player is able to create the layout for Spaceships and Planetary Installations with multiple decks within the boundaries of existing fuselages. He can choose between (currently) 50 Room types in 6 categories . A completed Design can then be challenged by playing a series of missions to test the crews reaction to emergencies and the ships combat capabilities. The success of these missions determines the ships rating, important for a good price on the market or the ships performance in your own fleet.

Some good fresh ideas and looks very good.
But I am instantly suspicious of someone asking for money before the product is even an alpha though.
It seems to be a new trend this "we have a cool idea for a game please give us money to make it" thing and I have yet to see one completed.
Not saying its a bad idea just different.

I mean what does he need money for?the engine he is making it on is free as are all the tools.Is he going to hire professional programers to help?
I mean would I be paying a guy to work on the game in his free time or am I paying a dedicated team?


Its all so new to me and I am suspicious of new things lol.So many questions.

Making a game takes a hell of a lot of time, a lot of energy and you tend to burn down when working alone on one. So having a bit of funding and community support I would actually think helps getting a "good idea" survive vaporware stage.

Really like the look of this. The level of immersion and attachment you will feel towards both crew and craft will be pretty high with that level of customisation! I can imagine it, loosing the last soldier for your original line up of crew members. "Webb's down, Nooooo!.. We will jettison your remains into space Webb, as we know its what you would have wanted "
