Many of y'all know about the Insurgency mod for Half Life 2, well many of the core members from that team are creating Insurgency 2 and formed New World Interactive studio.
Insurgency 2 They've set up a kickstarter - Insurgency 2 by New World Interactive — Kickstarter Kickstarter video: Alpha gameplay video: Don't know about the rest of you all, but I enjoyed the original modification a bit when it was first released; Stopped playing PR for a little while. |

Played allot of INS mod when it was released and tbh it was mediocre at best. Not to mention how the mod went downhill once it got into Steamworks so it deserved to die in the gutter as it did.

I played it sometimes. It wasnt bad. Pretty nice distraction between PR. It played a lot faster and arcadey. Like always I'm interested to see where they take it. They can make it a bit more realistic in my oppinion.

But then when I heard: "Never before had a game came out that allowed players fight either side of a on going conflit in real time" As far as I know, PR was released before this mod... |

AFAIK, PR had insurgents on both Al Basra and that small Helmand Province map in 0.5 and that was before Insurgency was released. This is a trivial point tho.
Don't think I ever really liked the original mod. The fact that it only took 1 or 2 hits to kill coupled with the absurdly easy way to aim with virtually no sway made killing people hideously easy. That, in turn, made playing as a proper squad next to impossible, at least as far as my experiences went. That they called the first mod "slow" compared to what this will be puts me off a lot. |

Yeah, the original mod had a lot of problems. But it was fun in short bursts.
The recoil was way too easy to manage, the map sizes meant the effectiveness and range of the weapons was completely messed up. And there was no sway when you aimed. Combined with 1-2 shots to kill and these laser weapons, and that gets totally lame. You shouldn't be able to just round a corner and snapshoot someone. They should add sway based on how much you've been running and such, so that if you just keep sprinting around, you're going to be tired and your aim will get all fucked up, if you jog around you'll be much more accurate, and if you just walk around, you get very little sway at all. But from what they said it seems like instead they're going to make it more run and gun, and more casual. So I'm not very interested. I mean I'd like to try it once it's done, but I don't think it's anything I'll really ever get into. Like a slightly more tactical version of CoD. |
