Default Modelers selling their work?

Well I was bored, and thinking of getting myself a tut for modeling, and I ended up looking at some pretty pictures. I found an XM8 here (http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPrevie....cfm/ID/292243) and if you look at the images you will see that it is for BF2. I think its one of the mods like AI, but it goes for $30. What do you think about that? Work for a mod team, and get a few extra dollars on the side.

This raises all sorts of issues. I mean if you are working for a mod shouldn't it be for fun and not for money? What do you guys thinks is it okay to make some money on the side.

absolutely OK...I consdier the things i create to be my products and a commodity of some value.. I dont ask for money but consider them as having some monetary value.. If another mods takes a level I make and use it without permission for example, I would like to be informed and I will have a polite discussion with them regarding use of my "product" or "work". Its not a free for all and I take pride in what I do..

If the opportunity arose i would certainly work for money...who wouldnt do this as a day job? You would have to be nuts not too...modding is a blast...

Thats a bit OFF TOPIC, but I wont delete your message. The xm8 series is used in modern games. (GRAW) And that means it is going to be used in semi-futuristic games, and those are popular.

Lets keep it on topic from here on out or I will just lock it.

Its perfectly acceptable in my eyes to do this. But obviously, if you donate it to a mod (or are on the mod team) then you shouldn't be selling it off.

To me, if you donate your work, then thats fine. Make a portfolio, and be proud of it, but its a double standard to GIVE your work away, then auction it off.
