Has anybody tried 2142 demo - is it friendly?
played demo last night. better than i thought it would be. vehicles are not effective without more than one person. gameplay is balanced well. no one class or vehicle dominates. loads very fast and much less lag than bf2. i love the ejection pods! i will probably buy it, just for something different, but prm with todays weapons and the awesome teamwork appeal to me more.

my 2142 experience went something like this:
chose assault kit > brought up iron sights & was mesmerised by the abundance of flashing lights & pulsing displays > contemplated the perfect vertical motion of the weapon's 'sway' > tried to shoot an enemy less than 100m away & pondered the bullets impacting anything but them > start > control panel > add/remove programs etc... |

Wow.... 7 hour download, 30 minutes to create a new account and approximately 2 minutes in game....
Horrible graphics... Just plain horrible. Total confusion and a disorientation factor of somewhere up around Jesus. Maybe after I've bought my next computer in about 10 years... |

Figured I'd post this here seeing as it doesn't deserve its own thread.
I will not be buying 2142. Not a chance. But heres an interesting point from PCGamer - Cheats in 2142 are the same as BF2. Apparently, during the beta there was no anticheat system so DICE could let people cheat and thus remove the ability to use that hack. But the point is - you can use the same cheats as in BF2. From the moment I first saw the teaser trailer (where you see the guy runover the hill followed by a Mech) I knew it was simply BF2, modded. The fact that you can cheat in both games simply shows that its the same game. |

I'm not going to get in any more contact with this then poking a box of it with a ten foot poking stick.

Just "improved"... The same way that some cheats for HL1 works in HL2. Not to mention the Unreal series.... Still, I won't be buying 2142 either so that's that. | |

2.142 lived up to its hype...A 7 hour long download, and a bunch of sci fi crap.

The SCi-Fi wasn't so much crap actually... It just looked like crap.
