Removing the blur when hit or when shot close

Is thier a way to remove the blur made from getting pinned down by an ai?
The black blur makes it an unfair advantage over the ai since they dont have that blur. Thx

I agree the blur can be very annoying in SP especially on woodland maps where there is lots of trees. It is a known issue but i'm not sure whether anything can be done about it yet. The changes made to the suppression effect in .8 will make it a whole lot better and its a shame we cant have these changes for SP now, but for now you'll just have to put up with it.

I guess change your shortcut, remove "pr.exe" and change it back to "bf2.exe" and also add "+restart 1". I don't think you'll get the PR warning screen then.

Can't try that online, since you'll get booted, but for single player, all is fine I guess?

Yea AfterDune is nearly right... and this will work

Quote:
"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +modPath mods/pr_sp_07 +menu 1 +fullscreen 1
or wherever yo have installed your BF2

You will also have to edit the pr_sp_07\init.con and rem out the line...
Quote:
bf2Engine.playMovie ../pr/Movies/warning.bik 1
so it looks like this...
Quote:
rem bf2Engine.playMovie ../pr/Movies/warning.bik 1
Also in the clientarchives.con rem out this line....
Quote:
fileManager.mountArchive ../pr/shaders_client.zip Shaders
so it looks like this...
Quote:
rem fileManager.mountArchive ../pr/shaders_client.zip Shaders

just my 2 cents, but the blur is unrealistic as hell, i have been shot at in combat and i could see just fine, about the only thing that was effected was my hearing due to the snap of the rounds. but there was no blurring at all. its retarded and annoying. maybe its simulating someone that is fresh to combat or something and their vision is blurred because *leatherneck0842 watch your mouth please.*

The blurring is there to simulate the effects of not getting hit. Unlike real life you dont run around, standing up, have chicken (face to face) gun fights, not worrying about dieing. All its there for is when your being suppressed your don't stand there without a care in the world.

For single player I can see the need to be removed.

Unrealistic, yes. But until we can code in fear this is a best alternative . You are welcome to suggest something in the proper forum, but until then taking it out would only re-vanillaize (made up word) the gameplay.

That's an extremely rude and insulting comment to both the makers and players of PR, especially considering the foundation of your assumption is incorrect.

I must agree with Coderfox and Wolfe.... so think before you type!!

Also I can see that you are refering to RL soldiers by your comment

Now, I understand why the devs, in their wisdom, put the suppression effect in. It's because when you have rounds incoming, you hit the dirt. Mashing your face into the sand to avoid taking a bullet to the head can be somewhat disorienting. The devs wanted to mimic that, and this is the best they could come up with so far.

I agree the shaders do no good for SP at all and are very unrealistic, yes they work in MP ok as not everyone and his father are shooting at you at the same time.

Also a lot of peeps that play SP have low end rigs and the shaders are tied into the frame rate so some get as much as a 10 sec (or more) suppression effect every time a bullet lands near them (do you think this is good??) I think not, I myself only get about a 2 sec effect but others must be going crazy being suppressed ALL the time.

Anyway it will be an option to have the shaders or not in SP v0.8 and can be up to the individual.... so I would write a little note on how to do this when v0.8 comes out.

This way the user can have two shortcuts, one with shaders and one without.
