Unhappy Noob Help! LAN Coop issue with server "switching sides"

I have a LAN set up in my office.

I set up a coop game and launch it.

My friend is able to join, but.....

when he enters the game he is forced to play on the opposite side because he was "switched by the server."

He can play but he can never join my team/squad

Has this happened to anyone else? (I turned off auto balance to no avail).

id really appreciate any help you can offer out there!

Thanks in advance!

strange issue there.. but you can just fire up a single player (not coop) game as well and have your buddies join via ip. we do that all the time for testing, no probs with choosing teams etc..

Thank you Hans Martin Slayer:

Sorry for yet another noob question:how do i get my ip address?

I got the IP address of my computer from Whatsmyipaddress.com.

Ran a singleplayer map.

Had another computer (that is a part of my LAN) join using that IP Address and it didnt work.

Question:

The IP address of teh two computers are the same...is there another IP Address (I got mine from whatsmyipaddress.com)?

Thanks again.

We actually use Hamachi which is a vertial lan and is given it's own ip address for each computer.

You can then connect through Hamachi and play by starting an SP game and the other comp using their online account to join via your Hamachi ip

You can have my gun when you pry it from my paranoid,
mentally disturbed, physically-abusive, cold, dead hand.
