Two Items

Hi,

I really look forward to being a part of the project reality community. But I have two items I would like to address. I would like to reinstall BF2, because I used a crack for convince back in the day... But if I re-install and re-patch will my mods be deleted? Because I dont want to have to download them all over again and I have to many mods to copy with out having to wait three hours!

Second, well, two things more... I want to remove the blur when bullets land near me on PR SP, does any one no how? Also, my internet is rather slow, what is the bandwidth limit? Its probably just something not important... But I would like to know before re-installing and shit... I run about 256kbs surfing...

Thank You

To my knowledge, reinstalling and repatching will remove everything. You can copy your Program Files/Battlefield 2/mods folder and place it on your desktop or hard drive. You don't have to copy the bf2 folder, or xpack, they'll reinstall when you install the game again.

Once everything is installed again, copy the individual mod folders to your new mods folder. Hope you have the latest PR version, which is .756. You should be able to play, but some things may be different, such as localization files, etc.

It's best to have the .exe installer of the mod download in case you ever need to reinstall BF2 in the future.

As for removing the suppression effect, that is considered a cheat, so I can't help you there. I understand there are performance issues with some slower computers, but I believe the DEV team are working on fine-tuning it.

Re: Two Items

Easiest way would be to replace the cracked exe file with the original though you probably didn't back it up, seeing as how you said it would take three hours to copy your mod folder i would recommend re-installing bf2 under a different folder then replacing the cracked exe with the one in your new installation. If it doesn't run properly after doing this, it may be because the exe is updated after patching so run the update for 1.41 on the new bf2 installation then copy the exe back over to your old installation(you probably won't have to update your new installation if the exe uses outside "code" which is the case for most games). hope that helps.

And Cyrax-Sektor, he said he wanted to remove the suppression effect from single player and not multiplayer so he isn't planning on using it to cheat and it would probably not work on line.

The thing is, suppression effects is part of the overall game. Thus, in my opinion, even removing them in single player is a cheat. HOWEVER, since it does not affect other people, it's not really a "bad" cheat.

But theoretically there should be a way to do it. That is, according to my knowledge, there is a way, but if it can be done in single player(and is posted), someone else can create a cheat for MP. And I doubt any dev or mod wants that.

Hhmm... Thanks everyone, thats a good idea exile, but I just backed my mod folder, 3 and a half hours ...

I want to remove the suppression in PR SP as I have done my own modding to my PR SP I have a separate mod for it, and an un modded copy of the mod and the newest version, like you needed for the original version.

True, Exiled, however, as stated by OiSkout, the cheat can be used for online play, as well. RedSand's intentions are innocent, but some passerby reading may use it wrongly.

However, PR online servers check for shaders these days, so maybe if Red contacted a developer and asked to use it only offline, maybe he/she will okay it. <-- Speculation.

Re: Two Items

Well it really depends on how you would go about removing it. There are options you can use for removing them for offline play that wouldn't work for online play. Adding to the fact that PR has added in the suppression effect you could just take it out again if you knew how and that way it couldn't exploited for online play because as you said, it checks for the shaders.
The single player is really just another mod so its just a matter of removing it from the singleplayer version while it stays in the multiplayer mod, so if you think about it, its not really cheating but just making a mod for pr.

Re: Two Items

Well lol, heres the conclusion... Turns out at some stage I have corrupted my copy of PR.exe... I have to re-download it anyway... But the re-install went good...

If a dev any idea pm me, though i think the server wont allow a user to join unless the mods sever and client files are identical...
