It has become commonly known that the shaders run through the PR.exe file can essentially be turned off by altering how PR is run. No matter how simple it is to achieve this, it is considered cheating.

We, the Dev team, would like to state that we completely condemn users altering the shaders used in PR which can lead to them having a great advantage over honest/teamwork orientated players which have made the PR community what it is. We are openly declaring that any attempt to remove the new shader effects (suppression/near-death) is not only a cheat, but a complete insult to the people who worked extremely hard to have them integrated into Project Reality. Now, this is not a thread for debating the legitimacy of the suppression effect, it is an announcement that anybody altering the game to get rid of it is cheating and in that manner, it is not different to an aimbot or view distance cheat.

Note: In future builds changes will be made to prevent cheating in this manner.

well the fact that they are willing to cheat in the first place makes me think that theyre actions will not change after reading this in any way. Is there anyway to detect if it has been turned off at all?

You serious!

Why would you play this game if you dont like the realistic things about it.

Hopefully you can weed out these people and slap and big fat SHAME ON YOU sticker on then

Wait, how do we do this???

[gets out notepad]

J/K fellas :P

Maybe this explains why it seems when I shoot some people they can still immediately turn and take me out... hmmm

Edit: Maybe it would be wise to not even publish a thread like this as it will only alert more people to the exploit and could create more cheaters?

Is there a quick way to stop this that could be rolled out as a patch in the next few days?

XKCD forums, in the middle of a perfectly sane conversation:
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
Best post ever made!

EG: PPSh is made of win and quite possibly stamped sheet metal

Thanks Devs for this statement. But do us all a favour when it is so simple to turn of the shader.. bring a fasthotfix for this "cheating" to keep the game more balanced.
I would suggest a patch where you disable the suppressing effect. You can reintroduce it in 0.8 when you find a way to prevent that those cheating f***ers destroing the game so easily!
