I think the only affect that players can have is direction. I'm pretty sure the door and ladder side spawns perpendicular to the direction you are facing, although not sure about the distance from you.

I posted a similar topic not so long ago and got no response.

Most of the time I find it's just a case of crossing my fingers and hoping for the best when I place the assests.

your sights or whatever dont make a difference ( that i can tell )

basically it just takes practice.

Maybe understanding how the system works is the best way for you to understand.

Basically when you click build razorwire or whatever, it creates a ghost (invisible) object thats exactly the same as the object your placing, only its invisible. The object will fall from about ~10 meters to the ground. If the object stops moving, then the ghost object is replaced by the actual one, and thats when you will see people get squished or whatever. If the object falls, but continues sliding (down a slope or gets caught in between 2 buildings, etc) then the object is just deleted and nothing is plaed. This is to reduce exploiting. Dont ask why things are done this way, trust me when I say that the BF2 engine is not exactly user friendly to mod and dbzao, the coder who has done this has done quite a bit of backflips and workarounds to get things like this into the game.

So just think, when your placing assets your actually spawning a ghost object that falls from the sky when you place it, and then it kind of settles in position before spawning the actual object. Thats why you can hear some weird sounds of scrapping or whatever when your placing near walls, its the razorwire/whatever scrapping up against the walls when falling.

Once you practice enough, it becomes prety easy to place.

Heres some more little tips:

- if you placed razorwire in a bad spot, use an AA cannon to destroy it to place another
- Sandbags and AA guns can be quickly destroyed by 50cal's to relocate them if they are in a bad position.

Thank you fuzzhead. I guess that's the official word. No exact science. Just trial and error and experience. Thanks for the advice.

Cheers.
