I don't know how many of you guys run a public server, but we (the Ti_GERs) run 4, 1 vBF2 ranked, and 3 Mod Servers (including a PR Server). Servers cost a hell lot of money, require a hell lot of maintainance and administration. I know there are some servers where Admins misuse their "power", but on most servers the admins just want to play, as you do. But since they are admins, they cannot just focus on the game, because every 30 sec someone complains about something. If you kick someone, they come back and start a discussion via ingamechat, leaving you with even less time to play. We usually give one warning, and then ban, or ban instantly if we've seen what happend. Discussions can be held at the forums. We pay for the server, and everyone playing there is our guest. You don't go to someones house, hit him in the face and eat his dinner, e.g. But if you go on a server, TK someone because you think its your time to drive/fly now, or start insulting other players or what ever, these people seem to think its perfectly all right. When I come home after a long day at work, and want to play, I simply won't start a discussion with everyone who thinks we all just waited for him to play on our server. We don't. If you visit a server thats not yours, behave like a guest and play by their rules, and you normally won't have a problem. If you dont like it, leave, play somewhere else or set up your own server.
I dont say its ok for admins to set up strange rules like "jets are for clanmembers only" or "you get banned if you kill an admin" - but you just cant do anything about it (except for vBF2 ranked, where such rules would be against the ROE and can be reported to EA). The guys who pay for the server can do what they want - its theirs. The only thing you can do: play somewhere else. Btw, we don't have such strange rules. |

tbh i hardly see purpose tk's any more and if he was a admin i dout it was purpose , i think ur mate punished a blatant accidental tk , which deserves a kick. thats my speculation tho.

Well, if the reason was really "pinishing an admin" as said, then the admin should do some thinking about himself.

The PR team can refuse to grant a server license to a particular server if they cause problems for the community due to their style of administration. However, I can honestly say I've never met a bad admin on PR.

I would like to know what server it is for starters.
I would also like to point out that being" punished " has almost no effect unless the server has a " kick for x amount of punished Tks rule " which really would not affect an admin anyway. Ti GER Niqo has made the most important point, that it is not your server and if they want to make esoteric rules they are welcome to do so. We are still a small community and if a server has crazy admins then let us know, we will check it out for ourselves and if it is true , we simply don't play there. @ wasserfaller....... if you still TK often then you need to make adjustments in your playing style. Punishing people has no affect but team killing does and if you are getting more than 2 TKs per game you are not paying attention and your behavior is directly affecting the players you TK'd and the team in general. @ Ikarti.... I'm curious about who forced you to read this thread ? Because if you were not coerced into reading this I don't understand why you bothered to post at all. Did you think your insults would change David's behavior ? There are always problems when large groups of people get together, and those problems can be magnified by having the power in the hands of children but most problems can be worked out if you try. |

What a non topic this is. Starting the thread with how you punished ANYONE for what most likely was an accidental TK says it all. You got the treatment you deserve, and I'm happy I play on a server on which punishing for non-intentional tk's is a kick/ban offense. In fact I report players like that every time they do it.

But, as AD&A said - the PR community is still quite small, there's just a hand full servers that are full every day, most servers are empty. If the word spreads around the community that a certain server is badly administrated, and people stay away from it, maybe the admins start to think about it. The small community is both blessing and curse - news travel fast and everyone knows each other, but its almost impossible to get a "new" server started, because every regular player already has his/her favourite server, thats first hand experience ![]() Although we had a few really good days with 0.6 when the server was full and people were praising our server for good ping and gameplay etc. Dunno why noone came back, though. *Edit: sorry for going OT... dunno what carried me away. Btw, we use the "kick after 4 punished TKs, ban after the 5th" rule, and it really makes things easier for us. I'm thinking 'bout decreasing the limit for the PR server to kick after 3, ban after 4. What do you think?

From my experiences with adminning other games , there's always 2 sides to every story.
Banned for "punishing an admin"?? Doubt it. There were probably a whole slew of circumstances that led to the ban. Maybe the admin apologized and was punished anyway (poor sportsmanship if nothing else), Have had it happen to me numerous times.Kids too eager to punish for TK's even after an apology. Would like to hear the banning admins side before I pass a judgment. |

Disagree - if an accidental team kill is due to really bad or reckless play then a punish will ultimately help that player to play better in future. If you just forgive, then that player will never learn that poor actions have consequences

I don't know why servers have TK punishing on. It only makes other people mad when some twat punishes you for driving over your mine or some other accidental tk.
Disregarding anything in BF2 or PR, the single most annoying thing to me is getting unfairly punished by some retard for a teamkill. Thats why all our servers have it turned off. I can understand why someone got kicked for punishing an admin. But I would suggest every server disable it. Not only does it make things more harmonius but clears the screen of lots of text spam too. |
