one of the biggest problems is that squad leaders can't talk to each other through VOIP, worst mistake made by DICE. whenever i lead squads i have to read the map and figure out what the other squads are doing and base my decisions on that. the commanders are good about deploying assests 50% of the time but i never hear them attempting to design any coordination between squads.

Haha yea, I always try to be SL. I should probably start up commander one day. Though being SL is so much more fun.

Though its mostly really fun cause my friend plays. But he's goin to Japan for a year soon so I need to find myself some new buddies.

I have been playing a crap load on the GamingSA.com servers since .5 came out.

It was full of the same 30-50 people every night and its a place where they take it very seriously.

But since .6 came out there has been a flood of noobs and all the regulars have gone into hiding.

I don't know if this is because of the noobs, good players leaving, or because of some of the changes. But it ain't no fun no more...

The large maps are pointless unless you wanna fly. I have played whole rounds where you never see an enemy. You jump in a tank or chopper to get to a Flag and bang your jet fodder.. Squads end up stranded in the middle of nowhere pinned down from sniper tanks. You end up with no transport and its to far to walk.

Desert Storm often ended up as a bottle neck to the pass... But now with civilians its just crazy...

Still..... kicks vanilla butt... And love the new stuff to .6
But it does in many ways feel like 2 steps forward... 1 Step back

Think the orginal poster is overstating the problem - it's more akin to playing poker. I have experianced this same frustration but i follow a methodology that helps me find a "good" squad:

1) look down the list of players - there are some old school guys and girls that have been playing PR a long time (many frequent this forum) - if you see a few in a squad togther, try and join that one. It will probably be full, so everytime you die in your no rally/random/no voip squad - check back to see if there is an open spot in a squad of "names" and join that at the first oppotunity.

2)when you log onto a server - check th emap to see which squads have a rally. This is an indication that they are organised at least. Try and Join squads with rally's

3)When you join a squad - ask if the squad leader is using VoIP (politely)?

4)Certain servers and certain times are better than other - IGI / TacticalGAmer / Gloryhounds are much better in the evening then the daytime (Evening UK or middle of the night US)

5)find out what language the squad (leader) speaks - was in a squad yesterday and it was mostly made up of a clan members (GDF or something similar) - after half a round of frustration with minimal orders and no VoIP, i saw some text written by the SL in teamchat and realised that they were german. My requests for "Please set a rally point!" were not translating very well..

6)If all else fails - start your own squad of 1 or 2 and do transport/engineering/ ambush tactics - anything that requires only a few of you to do - and lock it

I feel your pain Ghost. I have had one good night of PR since 0.6 went final. The Beta was good then it went to crap for me. The problem is that allot of the experienced players are spread out more now with all the servers and outnumbered by the new people. The beta had allot more experinced players on only a few servers.

I have not played much PR over the last week and probably won't for a little while until things cool down a bit. I do find the TG passwords nights are usually really good. Nothing fancy to get the password either, no waiting period or mandatory name tags.

I just got x-fire which I hope will help me track down a few people (add me if you like xlongbowx, not the best player ever but I know how to use a mic)

Cheers,

Close your eyes and imagine some really cool military picture, or better yet a really funny picture in this space. I said close your eyes damnit!

Anyone thought, that the more vets that take a vacation, the more nubs we'll get and it will never stop.
You need to get back in there and show them the ropes and lead them, not lean back and hope, they'll fix themselves out of nowhere...

Really dissapointing

[R-DEV]Gaz: Shout "WE R L33TZ" at the MD, sucker punch him, then teabag him while shouting "WHO OWNS YA? WHO OWNS YA? SAY OUR NAME! IGI! IGI! IGI! OFP2 Beta plz?"

True, you make a good point. However I don't have much spare time to play (life blah blah blah) so when I do I like to enjoy myself. PR used to be enjoyable, not so much now. I don't mind leading and teaching but do that for two weeks and you start to ask yourself if there is another game you want to play tonight instead.
