While a 4 step bar (A little bit fixed, a lot fixed, done) would be ideal, having an inoperable bar (I can't see even a single pixel's worth of difference =/ I tried changing ALL my graphics settings and even updated my driver) isn't realistic. You don't need to "concentrate" on a task to know if it's nearly done, and when you are face down shovel out, your character can't be running around or shooting stuff, so he IS concentrating on the job in hand...
