Vanilla Ranking on the final 0.6?

As for now, 0.5 has ranking from vBF2 and 0.6 as well (but gets reseted every round) . If ranking is going to stay in future versions, we really need to come up with a great ranking structure that promotes teamwork and getting your asses together to win the round instead of trying to get the highest individual score.

So.. If we (or I) can come up with a good ranking structure, shall we use that? I for one think the criteias for gaining rank are riducoulus, and in real life everyone isn't a gunnery sergeant or master sergeant..

I have an old suggestion that i suggested a while back. Time & W/L based ranking. If you want, I could rewrite it and show it to you if you want.

There is a new ranking in the making, but 0.6 will still use ABR I guess.

vbf2 ranking is not in v0.5 or v0.6, and I hope it never comes to PR. we have used ABR ranking since v0.2 which dose recored the ranks on ABR servers, thou there are afew bugs with it we do plan on getting some of thous bugs sorted for v0.6, and going to work on it more for v0.7

Are there going to be new rank criterias? Or just new servers?

Just to give you a taste and bring up the speed on this thread..

Currently all you need is points to get a promotion... You can get that by killing and raping, tankwhoring even lonewolfing.

I want a rank system that really tells your fellow players who you are in the battlefiled and tells how experianced you are. How good you are. And what role you are good/experiaced with like SqL,SqM or Commander.

In time you'll see that; the master sergeants are the very very good and dedicated squadleaders, the captains are good squad leaders but getting the hang of commanding as well, the corporal is a trusted squadmember and a good choice for pointman, and so on.

This will be the results of having timed ranking and Win/Loose ranking. Youll get sertain ranks for playing as Squad member often and youll get sertain ranks för playing as squadleader often, and so on.

Where does the W/L come in then you think? Well. When gotten a rank such as staff sergeant, you'll have to have w/L rotation to go higher on SqL rank. So to get to gunnery sgt youll need a W/L rotation of lets say 1.5, then a 2.0 rotation for master sgt.

Any questions?

Rank killed Bf2 because it sucked ass. My suggestion is unbreakable. It promotes teamwork, and more time to be put in the game. I know that rank killed BF2. But how in the world could my suggestion kill pr? Please read all posts before nay saying.

so that ranking not only shows who plays alot and who not but rather who plays and makes a diffrence for the team due to points per minute?
and even who makes a diffrence for the team due to won/ lost rounds?
dude, a promotion logic built up on those parameters could be very complex to programm.
have you ever checked the gloryhoundz stats? you'll find those W/ L and points per minute are already there to check on.

Wait.. i dont follow you here.. I hate points. Where did points a minute get in?

The W/L promotes teamplay. Atleast by the ones concerned by their rank.

I want timebased ranking becasue more time = experiacne. Its far from always right, But you get a hunch. A no ranker can be twice the player a mstsgt is, but that dosent meen that mstsgt is bad. My ranking will show what each player plays like. The ranking is underestimating people, but rather that then the opposite...
