Damn!! Now that looks like I thought it would...those other guys were much more prepared for that recoil. This is why I hated seeing us virtual soldiers sprinting around blazing with full-auto(7.26) +sidestepping FAST and being very effect in CQB...but hey now thats fixed with realistic movement I think the scope jump could be more but it's not the biggest problem in the game. Is the G3 truely dominant against the M16 and L80 ingame? I don't have enough games under my belt to give a good answer to that.

I have a pretty terribly, rubbish, often missing all shots, bad aim with the M16, and just bad with the L80, but the G3 ... 7-0 ratio in about 10 mins until someone called a sniper on me. It is the easiest gun to use. You can take out almost anyone with one hit to the chest. If they aren't down instantly, there heavily bleeding. Often against USMC, to combat the scopes, the enemy go Spec Ops for the M4, which means it is 100% 1 hit kills to the torso as no one has any body armour.

Like I said before, I feel like a bit of a cheat using it

Wow...I wonder if thats the general consensus. Would that hold up to RL standards? Maybe recoil needs to be increased on the G3...maybe its not even about the recoil...it could just be THAT much better of a gun. Does the M16 have any advantages to the G3? Is it more accurate or just has less recoil? If accuracy is the same at 300yds then it seems like the gun is just that much better....I think I'd like to see more recoil on that thing though. I would think the scope jump would be pretty damn significant and full-auto recoil should be fairly inaccurate when firing from the hip\shouldered

0.607 recoil for the G3 certainly needs increasing. full auto its way too easy to control.

One, and that is that it can hold more bullets (30, 10 more than the G3), but other than that, its out classed in every way.

The M16 and L85 both have 30 rounds per magazine, so you've got an additional 10 shots before you have to reload. And that adds up when you compare total round counts, an MEC rifleman carries 180 rounds with him, while the equivelent USMC or British rifleman carries 270 rounds. With the change in the way resupplying ammo works in v0.6 that will become a much more serious advantage. It'll mean that if you fight clever and stay in cover you'll be able to make the MEC soldiers use up their ammo before you run dry. Also, for fire an manuver, ammunition expenditure is often very high (in tourney training exercises and firefights we regularly run dry by the end of a bounding advance where the fireteams take turns to lay down suppressing fire), and the MEC troopers will run dry that much faster.

I think its a fair trade off, personally. Especially when the US get the M16A4 in v0.7 and the ACOG sight it brings.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Many thanks to the Forum's no.1 hottie for the sig pretties.

Nah, I am probably not the best to discuss it with. There are going to be people who have heaps more experience than I. I only served as a stupid conscript for nine months and was in the artillery so we did not spend all that much time on the firing range.

WW2 M1 - brutal, noisy and difficult to control when firing rapidly
The M1 (and M14) will have alot more muzzle climb than a weapon with a pistol grip.

Not when both the Army and Marines are in the process of switching over their weapons to M4s and M16A4s, respectivly.
Until Colt's contract goes out, or the Defense Department grows some brains and moves on to some better rifles.
