VOIP. Im missing out...

More and more I begin to realise that Im missing out by having no VOIP. I like being in squads that use voice as they generally are more "team orientated". Although it gets tiring havin to type stuff out and sometimes gettin capped while in the process of doing it.

Can anyone recommend a decent mic / headset to use? Its about time i got into the year 2007...

I got mine headset mic at Circuit City I think for $15. Try to find one with no headphones or only 1 headphone piece. That way you still rely on your good computer speakers.

Perfect mic, i've had it for the better of 4 months now; not a single problem (also ordered from newegg).
Sounds great and I don't notice any distortion of sound for such a cheapy mic, it's also a very sensative mic as far as I'm concerner which can be good or bad depending.. Late nights it's good for when talking in low tones or quietly.

Depends how much money you wanting to spend. Panasonic and Creative have just released some really good surround sound headsets. They are pricey though, and some of them are awful.

Just bye the PS2 logitech mic. It works, has one headphone and its comfy. Oh and it only is 20 bucks and uses a USB so you can use it for w/e.

I got a 1$ mic and it work perfectly fine, but I hate using it because it feel weird to talk to something away from your face, so I use that

For the mic you can get away with a real cheapie, i've always used the cheapest available with no problems... i also use it for skype etc. From my experience you dont need a fancy mic.

and you can just use your existing sound.

These are fantastic and what I use, you can hear the rumble of the tanks as if you where really there.

Powerful rumble effect headphones, exclusive positional sound capability, LED level meters and a voice recognition certified, noise canceling microphone make the AudioFX the ultimate PC gaming headset!
The AudioFX is officially certified by Teamspeak, the leading online gaming chat client.

Increased situational awareness with directional sound.
The Audio FX reproduces sound effects to give a sense of three-dimensional space, actually improving your game play! Literally feel your enemy's footsteps approaching and intensifying or the rumble of engines and explosions with powerful amplified bass vibrations. A special feature of the AudioFX utilizes positional audio, meaning explosions to your right will feel amplified to your right side compared to your left side. Situational awareness is dramatically improved, just read what Techworthy.com/PC Upgrade Magazine had to say:
"For less than $50/£25, the AudioFX Force Feedback offers an innate ability to generate a full environment of peripheral sounds, generating situational awareness as well as crisp, direct sound. That can be an invaluable tool in any game, particularly if some flunkie/zombie/unicorn/linebacker is ready to jump you from behind; you’ll hear him coming thanks to the AudioFX."

The critics are raving. This is the unprecedented must-have headset for gamers:
Never have I been so impressed with the sound quality of a headset in its price range. 9/10 - TechIMO.com

Everything about this headset is great. - Gamezone.com Editor's Choice Award

These are the best gaming headphones you can get, hands down. Even expensive Bose or Sennheiser headphones can’t compare to the good vibrations these headphones put out. 9.5/10 - Gamershell.com Gold Award

Very sturdy and comfortable as well.

Go to town. Walk into Poundland, buy mic. Go home. Plug mic in, play.

My BF2 VOIP is MESSED, it works for the first 30 secs after joining the server and then after that it just says I don't have a mic.
