Weapon sounds/loudness
The weapon sounds, or the volume, has been bothering me for sometime now. Im not sure if elsewhere in the world weapons simply make less noise, ive only got experience with RK-62 and KVKK (both used by the Finnish army), and those things are not anywhere near what im hearing in BF2 and PR in terms of how much of a noise they generate. Sniper weapons seem more realistic and you can actually hear those things from greater distance but all the standard weapons that the various "factions" use simply feels wrong.
Theres nothing wrong with my computer, or "sound system", i usually play with pretty high volume settings. For instance, being near A10 is impossible, like it should be. Any comments on this, or am i just going deaf... http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/7,62_KvKK_62 http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/RK-62 |

It might not be "wise" to just boost the volume as i personally would like to keep my hearing intact. As i mentioned earlier, i had to be next to A-10, as i was playing commander and also fixing planes on Al Basrah. It was not "fun" at all. I really had to turn down the volume. Perhaps they could simulate "deafening"? Some brief "deaf" after shooting, or someone shooting real close to you? Same goes for tanks shooting next to you etc. Also the weapons sound distances really needs to be increased a lot, you should be able to hear most, if not all, gun firing on small-medium sized maps. I believe the BF2 flashbang (sound) effect could be close enough? Obviously there should be weapons that dont make as much noise, perhaps ones used by specops.

Sounds are weaksauce. Dono, if it's BF2 that can't do good sounds or they just haven't been done right.

Only ones I got a problem with is the 'rubber band gun' pistols and the 'to much of a pussy to actually make a cool noise' QBZ-95s.

The sounds could definitely use a bit more "punch" ... not volume ... but bass or something ... the Eve of Destruction guys did a good job with this in their release for BF2 ... their AK and M16 sounded better than I've heard in the past + their law rocket had a nice "phwishhhhhhhhhhhhhh" (LOL!) sound to it.

when .6 is out, stand on top of a tank and make it so your shell goes down the hatch...
