possible to create a local network??

Hi I wanted to practice my flying but with my friend also, so is it possible for him to create a local network and for me to join from my house.....(he doesnt have a router)

We tried a couple of things, but nothing works, he starts the server , but i cant join, it says that i have to check my network configuration....

so first of all: is it possible

if yes: anybody can tell me how to do it easily?

tx ALOT!

Nah, for that you'll need to create an internet game. You can just password it so no one else can join.

Maybe with Hamachi ?
http://www.hamachi.cc/

It's a LAN simulator... you can create networks that make your computer thinks your computer in connected to your friend computer...

If you host it from your own home it doesn't cost a thing, but it will need its own computer since it has to be a dedicated server.

Hmm... I thought you could run one from in bf2, but maybe not. You may have the server installed with bf2 - have a look in your bf2 directory for a BF2ServerLauncher.exe. If you don't have it, you can download the server installer from the bf2 site somewhere.

Although the hamachi thing might be easier

Edit: Leo - no. You can run a dedicated server and normal bf2 connecting to that server from the same PC. It turns into a bit of a slideshow when you have a server and 2 separate instances of bf2 running though :P

Of course you can...try this

1) Person A starts a Single player game and take note of the IP address.
2) Person B goes to the multiplayer server selection screen, the one where you can choose an internet server to play on. While at this screen there is a button that says connect to IP - type in person A's IP address.
You should be connected to his game.

Yeah Outlaw22 correct.

But some maps crash in single player.
