Are we ready for Civilians?

So this is a "reality" mod, and in my mind one of the best, but there is one major point of reality that is missing, and that's civilians. Many of the maps' descriptions contian "the city was evacuated earlier." IRL there are always innocents getting in the way.

To the best of my knowlege, no FPS game has "neutrals" which interfere with the action (and should result in negative points if you kill them).

Think of the challenges of a map like EJOD with insurgents blending in with the locals. Shoot up a building to get rid of a sniper and a "squad" of civi's spawn at the front door and run away.

I know it would be a huge drag on system resources, and probably not doable with the BF2 engine, but I'm thinking maybe the next generation of PRM should have neutral NPC's.

What do you think?

Unless there was a way top make them move around fluidly, and not look like crap, and not look cheesey, and not look clumsy.....etc. then no, I dont want them.

It could be done, but servers and computers just can't handle all the civilians.

Maps like Basrah are already laggy and huge. Adding civilians would lag it to hell.

Yes you can add civilians already (zombies). Just lay them out there and they do nothing.

How about a small percentage of each team is forced to have a civilian "kit"? If you kill them you get negative points.

Now that is just stupid, nothing to add.

Who to heck would like to be running there with no weapon just waiting to be shot.
Even with slightly armed they would not be good at all as a kit. If they are to be placed they are be NPCs as long as that kit could really provide something awesome.

Civilians would be awesome.

Unfortunatley I do not think it is possible on this engine and at this time. Maybe if PR was to switch to a different engine then sure but for now, although I would love to see it, no.

LEO, the civi's in AA, is that just in single player? I've never seen it in the maps I've played online.

Uhm? Nurses in Hospital, Pilot in CSAR for starters. Played the game for couple years and even without there is no need to be blind :P
