hmm have the devs considered rapidshare?
since it seems all the downloads are on the blink, just saying that rapis share has a dl speed of about 250kb/s +
only down side is you would have to shop the files into 100mb rared chuncks and if you were to dl it you would have to wait 60 mins between parts unless you use a leacher but its still quite a good alternative imo. |

1.7gb in 100mb files = 17 files. With an hour wait between each, even with incredibly fast internet it would take you 17 hours to download. Requiring you to be available to click 'download' once an hour. And then on top of that need to get the files split and joined back up correctly. So it's not workable at all. bittorrent is the best way to get large files like this, and failing that there are a lot of ftp and http mirrors with the file.

You can chop the files up and make them some rar archive so you just ctrl + A them all then right click extract to and it becomes 1 big file but then you have the times.

I still feel bittorrent is the way to go. When .4 came out, I downloaded the whole mod in no more than 40 minutes (thank you seeders). Whenever there is a popular release, the best way usually is through torrent, especially when there are tons of people working on the file.
As long as we have seeders, we shouldn't have any problems downloading anything at a decent rate. |

ontop of that, the chances of a torrent turning into a corrupt download is next to nil.

firefox+DTA+direct link= very fasat downloads. dta is a dl add on for firefox and immensly speeds up dl's. I went from an average of 100kb/s to 700kb/s.

I too invariably pull down an average 600kbps on my downloads. It's so easy to use. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/201/

how about box.net? you can upload up to 10gb and have the file all in one piece. there is also an option on box.net to publish the files publically...
or at least re-upload them or somtehing to filefront or where ever they are hosted because every new 'player' seems to get an error. |
