Please do NOT turn off comms when dead. It destroys teamwork, it destroys comm usage and it confuses the players. Fade to black when dead is good but do not adjust the comms.

Such a move will turn me off this mod more than you know, it is hard enough to use the voip feature and get people to talk as it is.

Ongoing PR Projects:
Canadian Forces RG-31 Nyala Armored Patrol Vehicle - Status: Importing
Topographical minimaps - Status: Restarted![7/18]

Farcry doesn't have VIOP, but our coder made it so when you died, you couldn't talk to anyone except spectators and other dead players.
We did it mainly because we wanted the game to be a last man standing with everyone only having 1 life. When you died, you went spectator and watched over your other teammates shoulder to see how the round ended.
Problem was, it gave you a better perspective, and you could tell your guy where to look, so the no typing fixed it, until we realized most people use Ventrillo or Teamspeak anyway, so point of the story is, there are ways around anything.
If you block the VIOP, the clan guys can have a pretty good advantage.

As Fuzz suggested though, a fade-to-black would render any type of functional comms (TS, Ventrilo, BF comms) useless since the dead guys ability to "see" would be taken away. A "dead" soldier wouldn't be able to see enemy positions and pass them on to the "living".

comms off when you are dead might be a good idea. But when seriously wounded you should be able to speak, to call a medic & tell where you are, tell how many seconds left before you die etc. That kinda info is important when playing in a squad, and even in real life if you would be badly wounded I think you would manage to speak to the radio.

I like your style, look forward to trying that out on some folks next time, not tried the C4 on the wounded when i find myself alone..

Oh and if we are getting into simulating in PRM the afterlife.... *shakes head in dismay*

As the great man says... "There are no respawn points in RL, if i get lag out there i'm dead..!"

Tell you what, take regular breaks and the bright light can be you opening the fridge to get a beer between sessions...

You are alive... in RL enjoy it while it lasts...

I think the best thing to do is make it so that the soldier, dead or majorly wounded, sees only sky or dirt. They should see nothing else until they respawn.

<<< is guilty of using in-game VOIP to relay info.

I feel this is a logical & fair solution to the issue!

This would suggest that executions in battle is a valid tactic. It might be realistic but a bit unnerving. This is a soldier-sim, and soldiers hopefully try to act in accordance to the rules of war(and sometimes even the geneva convention).

You still say dead, while you see "critically wounded". A critically wounded should use his radio to tell that he needs medic, he got a shot from back (because he wants the medic to live), and of course to curse the enemy, or motivate the medic. Also he will see, if an enemy uses the same concealment while sitting on his face.
But the one thing what I really dislike, when the cam moves up, and I notice that where is a man that shot me down, while he is camping behind a bush. I would not even see him if I would be able to move my head freely.

Fade to black
there is an RO moddded set of maps that does it too and it's the best solution.
TS/Vent can't be controlled so there will always be the beyond the grave reporting but w/ a black screen I don't have 30+ seconds to describe the enemy's movements.
