I like the idea of a small sigbar for this, but there really should be a single one, because if there are many different ones I dont' think it would look as good.

Perhaps a # at the far left, followed by an infantryman, a tank and a helicopter, all greyed out.
Then another version with the infantryman in color, one with the tank in color, one with the heli in color, one with infantry & tank, one with infantry & heli, one with tank & heli, and one with everything in color (if that's not too much work, though I suppose it isn't).

Then everyone can not only show he's using the #, but also his preferred classes/combat types.

Nice idea, but didn't we decide to use only one role signal in the tag? It would make sense to do the same here with one version of each in color and a version with all in color corresponding to just # tags. And did you mean to use the symbols we use in tags or actual little images of the asset.

Assets might look nice (an M4, an Abrams and a Huey, for example). But the words might be cleaner.

I would love a clean version though. Like "# User" + a link to the first page of this thread.
