Default What are your thoughts on mumble

I personally love it. And i'm a kinda new user of it. People there is a reason the devs added it to the download. Because they know how much realer and better a game is with it being used. Its kinda a bridge between vanillla to PR that should be crossed as much as all the other stuff you've learned like building fire bases i feel.

Let me say some positive examples. Your Cas for instance or a squad leader or an armour squad. They have a squad leader channel. You can tell the other leaders exactly what you need for them to do. No more repetitive writing. Which during the heat of battle could get you killed. No more typing APC can you take me here. You just tell him if he's right next to you. Its cuts back on lots of confusion. To understand the full effectiveness play on Reality Teamwork. Its mandatory on their server. Try it for a week and i bet you'll be convinced and won't wanna play any other way.

I was once like some of you. Used to be like "mumble bumble jumbo" lol. But if you like vanilla and then you think well hey PR is 100 times better than that. You will see mumble is the same compared to regular voip. But only if everyone is using it.

I know some of you are saying yea i tried it but its not all that. Install it again. And play on reality teamwork for a week. Im sure plenty of people will enjoy it and hopefully this post will get more people using it everytime.

And if you see a lot of negative issues with it post it. I don't besides its no good if 3 people out of 64 are using it. Im telling you though is so much more fun with it.

i agree, i love it and dont play without it (only play RT and TG). it has its problems, but its worth it. its not comparable with VoIP, you shouldn't be using mumble when you should be using VoIP (i regulary hear people using mumble in my squad and tell them to use voip as the enemy can hear you, unless on TG)

I too love mumble and use it , and I recomend to every one to stop being so lazy and use mumble as it enhaces your PR experience.
I often hear players say, "Yeah, I have mumble but I'm not using it now" ... but when are you going to use it?!

great for communications between squads, fun to listen for enemies when you use and the fact it it doesn't have that huge delay that voip has is also a great bonus.

Only like it on TG, where the teams are seperated.

Its fun but ultimately VoIP wins out. If one of your squaddies passes out on the field and has to spawn away you need to use in game voip. If they are just outside of the Mumble bubble, voip is needed. Like said if close to enemy it is needed (but you may not know if you are close to an enemy o_0 ) Plus I find it is easier to screw around with it. It seems like PR is taken less seriously if Mumble is in hand. Now sure you can have your fun times, but it just has some sense of goofyness sometimes.

On the other hand, it is a great tool if in the heat of combat. If you are pinned down, separated from your squad, and need that smurf medic to help you, then you can easily call for him over Mumble instead of text or the audible. It also helps keep a squad close together and breathing. The positional stuff is great just because it sounds different!

I guess what I have a hard time with is how mush of a benefit do I get for pressing 2 or so more buttons while in a firefight. I have to program them and set it up. If all this could be implemented further into PR then I would LOVE Mumble and use it every time. I know crews have been working on this, thank you, but it seems to have been squeezed pretty well. I guess I stand about 50/50 on it. Will fire it up and join a server to enjoy it, sometimes will not.

Thumbs up Re: What are your thoughts on mumble

Absolutely the best for PR.
In my opinion it should be a have to on every server.
Everyone should use it, because it´s great fun.

agree, two seperate channels is the best way to experience mumble soooooooo much better then just having the one

would be nice if it's not possible to have mumble automatically place you in the correct team channel etc. to set up a player bind so that they can switch channels without the need to alt+tab (for those that have PB issues or PC issues with doing so)

its a non issue ... there isnt any reason to Dislike mumble unless you have ur head stuck up your behind..
The fact it uses 3d audio is astonishing... and the clearity is better than Viop ... viop makes me sad some times.... 3d audio makes the game That much better and i suggest everyone start using it. ( there should be some sort of Mumble noob day or somthing to promote mumble)

your doing it wrong, mumble is NOT a replacement for VoIP and within your squad VoIP should still be primary. Mumble just adds a extra layer to the communication, should not be used in place of VoIP.

Squad leader channel.
--------------------
Voip
-------------------
mumble proximity

More levels of communication for very little effort, see no reason not to use it.
