no such thing as base rape to me. if you managed to setup a good position outside of my base and are delivering effective fire on my team, i applaud you. i will hate you too but that's just part of the game. this is Project Reality after all and i feel that if a team is smart enough to separate a small outfit from the main unit to hold off enemy reinforcements and are successful in doing so, they deserve every advantage that it comes with. it is a legitimate strategy which if not done properly can have huge consequences for the assaulting group/s

Though I have been banned from your servers 2 or 3 times before you settled on one deffinition for base rape. Also I think the admin has since left.
But I digress

blockading a main in my opinion is base rape. Mines to tanks an blockade is the same as base rape.
Shooting down a jet as it takes off or lands is border line base rape.
A sniper shooting into main is border line base rape. The sniper can only do so much damage to the enemy team and if he wants to waste his time istead of spoting troop movements and fobs that's his problem.

I'll add my 2 cents,

Im quite invested in the #Eagle server which is changing name to #BDM quite soon.

2days ago on silent eagle, i ended up having to switch teams, change squad, to find out that all the flaming in the chat was because a russian tunguska was squatting our main. It took me less then 5 minutes to get an at4, run up the hill on the aa's right flank and down it.

We deliberatly run a mainbase attack rule. In the means that, cutting off supplies, and disorganising the other team can be quite helpful. Gaining 5 mn while they try to take out a sniper is the time you need to establish a fire base... On the other hand id like to point the difference between mainbase attacks and baserape...

We use the assumption that the dome of death is there for all places you shouldn't go. But obviously abuse requests a an admins decision.

My point is that most of the time people just cry and whine about it, which takes them longer then fighting back. I have never been in real combat irl but i do beleive that enemys do not put flags and markers where they will attack you and it is interesting to portray that in game.

edit : +1 on CnC sirex, but having tryed, unless multiple clans and good SL's on both side it ends up depopulating the server.

Like you said there is a difference, but that can be achieved easily without actually being that close to the main.

A tunguska camping an airfield is blatant rape.. the only protection for jets against it is height and you wont even be able to take off.

I think if the server rules allow it then it is OK because most mains have built in defenses, but if you are camping outside a main on a server that doesn't allow main base attack it is different.
Besides, if the server allows it, it should be called base seduction since you consented to it by joining the server.

Baserape = ... Spawn killing ... Setting traps in a min spawn area where people usuialy walk and ambush / Nade trap / nade frag the area. Not allowing any momentum from the enemy team to mobilize.. being a DBAG and ending the round with everyone mad at you

@dalek: is that the server's full name? cause i think i wanna start playing on that server. some servers are so anal about baserape (no pun intended) that they dont even allow ambush on main roads which lead directly FROM a main.

@callousDisregard: LOL base seduction! these maps arn't old enough to give consent yet! you can base seduce all you want when they hit PR2

Im not sure i want to transform this thread into advertising for such and such server. you do have enought to find it, and my profile can help.

I must admit that few players know the difference between the art of disruption and baserape. I've had quite a few cases of blatant abuse.

The only good way is CnC in the end, might put some serious thinking into it again...
