Default Something wrong with the Attack Huey flares?

Hey Guys...
I have already flown the Attack huey 3 times in 0.9 and in those 3 times I got shot down in less than 1 minute...
I can assure to you that I don't lack skills, Especially with the UH1!
In 0.87 and before I used to last for the whole round!
But now I just seem that I can't avoid any AA missiles no matter when I drop flares and how much of them!!
I had so many locks with the Chinooks but non of the time I got shot down when I dropped flares ( The missile usually Damages me, But it hits the flares nearby)

P.S. I get a lock for like 3 second before I die ( So the 0.5 sec sound delay has bothing to do with this) and I drop flares as soon as I hear the alarm!! and like 3 second later I get hit by a missile!!!

Unlike vBF2, When you here that beep you are already locked on. So it's very hard to avoid a AA coming right at you.

Yes as far as I know you have to drop the flares if you jsut suspect an aa to be looking at you.
Many pilots drop the flares before and right after an attack. Or before and after a drop-off.

My guess on you surviving it with the Chinook is that you actually get hit but I think it takes 2 hits to kill the Chinook if im informed correct.

Takes one hit to down a Chinook. Scored a hit with an SA-7 as Taliban.

If someone fires the split second they gain a lock your flares wont matter.

Drop flares preemptively. Alex and I were flying on Muttrah the other day. When we flew in the cobrah we were up for around 30 minutes I would guess (being very conservitive)

When we took up the hueys we both dropped flares right as we pulled into our strafe and we always came from a less expected direction. By the time we pulled up the sky behind us was filled with flares and we didn't even get lock. When we did get shot down I was hit by a someone who didn't even try for a lock after I had passed, and Alex was hit by a Tow in the same strafe . The flares arent the problem its the way your using them .

ps I'm pretty sure they only changed the flare effect and not the actual flare mechanics but I'm not entirely sure...

There's your problem. Drop flares before you get a lock when you're going into hostile/suspected AA areas.

I do drop flares before I attack... I am an Experienced pilot!
I just forgot to mention this...

1 of those 3 times... I was going to attack somewhere with an AA in it... I knew it was there. And I was supposed to take it out..
500M away I dropped flares (No lock yet) more than 0.5 passed... I am 300 Meters away and I can clearly see the area I am attacking I started shooting and dropping flares at the same time (I did mess the AA as there was so many thing like FB, TOW MG Etc... As you cant know which one is the AA from 200 M high) then I got a damn lock..
I dropped flares... and I was trying to get away... I kept dropping flares and like 3 seconds later.. BOOM!

IF I was in any other chopper including Trans Huey... I would have evaded the missiles with flares...

If you go in an attack dive, you have to be aware that your flares spread out behind you now, so you are the foremost source of heat and the biggest target! Let the flares spread out for a second, then begin your strafing run.

It's easy for an AA to lock you in this moment for an experienced player. He just has to turn away slightly to get rid of the fake locks and lock your helo again. You'll have no chance.

Cant trust flares 100%, someone can still be lucky and lock onto you rather than the flare. Fact of the matter they wont work all the time.

Heck once I was flying the F-16 chasing the Mig, who was chasing the A-10. They were popping flares, i fired my missle and ended up hitting the A-10 and killing him.
