IDF/Hamas Squadname Issues

I guess that squad names like "antichristian, loljesus, lolcatholic, etc" would not bring up any conversations like this, but this is the way whole world seems to be.

I dont care what names people use in their squads unless they are reserving some assets or doing their work on the field properly.

Honestly... If I see that there is an open spot in a squad that seems to be using teamwork (together on a map, has a Officer-SL, medic).

I don't see the problem with names like that (though never create them myself). It doesn't have to mean that the person who created a squad name let's say KILLJEW has to be dead against jews...

If someone has a problem with that: inform the leader of the squad that you have a problem with it (it really offends you in some odd way) and ask him to change the name. If he doesn't agree/starts thowing racist statements at you then you go talk to an admin.

Furthermore: remember that racism isn't just against blacks jews etc. It works both ways.

IMO, that subject is blown out of proportion. It's a game, just a game. But despite that, some people care WAY too much about these things. It's called RP.

You shouldn't worry about it unless they insult you or your belief in person.

Not true Ni*AHEM*r has always been an insult against blacks, whereas Jew is just the name of the race. It's like being offended by the word Brit or Scot or Taffy or w.e (even Paki, though for some reasons Indians/Pakistanis are special) - absolutely ridiculous.

Certainly not true in the US.
Here, the word Ni**er is used colloquially between friends who are African-American, and it's sort of just become another noun.
Heck, I've heard plenty of white kids refer to the black friends this way; nobody really cares. I think it's more taboo elsewhere than it is here in the States.

And on the subject of the offensive squad names: I really don't think it's that big a deal.
I mean, I kind of doubt that people would get so offended that they would be unable to play comfortably. If I'm not mistaken, the main reason admins don't like people having racist/profane/inappropriate squad names is because it disrupts game play that annoys people and takes them off the server.
Unless it really offends you, to the point that you can't play, then I don't see any problem.
I mean, sure, if someone is spouting racist/anti-Semitic epithets and such, then they should be warned and then kicked. I have seen this happen several times in PR.

I have several Jewish friends who play games online regularly, and they always hear plenty of anti-Semitic remarks, but they don't get offended, because they know people like to shoot their mouths off over the Internet, and that it's usually just in a joking manner.

But what if the player who makes a squad like "JEWFANTRY" or "LOLJEW" (as mentioned earlier in this thread) is a Jewish person?

Or if the player who makes a squad called "4ALLAH" "INSHALLAH" is a Muslim person?

As this may change the context of the situation, is that still offensive/kickable?

As far as I'm concerned, JEWFANTRY, LOLJEW, JEWPC, JEWVOIP ect. ect is all fine, just like MAPLE, BEAVER, BACON and SYRUP squads on Canadian maps are fine. It's a little amusing even, though I think part of the reason we're seeing so much of it is that the IDF is new, after a while, the novelty is going to wear off and you'll see less of it. Obviously there are ways that this reasonably innocent act can be perverted, and anything actively antisemitic (though given the squad name character limit, I don't think it's so much of a problem) is unacceptable, but other than that, let's just shake our heads and smile.

Correct, Just like when the Russians were released all I would hear when someone missed a shot is "Oh I must be drunk off the vodka." or something stupid like that.
